6950 2gb or 560 direct cu II - Page 2

Go with the 2GB reference card. The extra memory can come in handy on some games and the ability to unlock the shaders is a nice possible perk. But I'm a bit of an ATI fanboy so take that as you will

And now I congratulate you on the purchase

Does anybody know of some good aftermarket coolers for this card?
Preferably idle around 35 ceclius?

Thanks

Mine idles at 36C, but my basement is cold, 65F and my fan is always about 100%, I'm quite sure you haven't tweaked the fan control using MSI afterburner, as you haven't yet complained about the noise ( That's why I love the NZXT Whisper, it's soooo nice )

BTW, unlocking it is really easy, it's a nice added bonus, and you get a stable 880 and 1375 oc with it. Plus mine is pushing 1GHz on the core right now

Hmmm that's wired mine is about twice that size, and the chamber covers more area.

If you're actually spending more money on after cooler, then why not just return it and get a asus direct cu ii version?

Dr. Pepper, who makes your card?
Is it a blower or flower type cooler?

Krazy, I returned three cards already, one with a broken fan blade and one that wouldn't let my system post, and I already went $120 over my original budget, I think this is where i'm going to have to settle for now xD

XFX Reference version, it's not made anymore, but from what I've heard the Visiontek is exactly the same, just with now fancy XFX logo, but it's $30 more than the XFX was at the time, otherwise I would've bought the Visiontek, as all of my ATI GPUs have been Visiontek over the past few years, from a 3870x2, to a pair of 4870s a 5770, all really good cards that still run today.

Here's a link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=7101568

EDIT: I found the exact card here, note it's not the "new" silent version that a lot of WCs hate ( Still reference )

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=P450-6950

EDIT EDIT:

Here is the one to avoid, some sites still have the ref pic up, but really sell this one, just avoid XFX, as your chances of getting a REF card are slim to none
