GTX 570 keeps getting stuck at 2D clocks. help !

Hi guys, so this has happened quite a few times now, but lately its getting worse. I've been playing The Witcher 2 and been having problems where the game suddenly freezes, sometimes graphical artifacts will appear. I open the task messenger to shut it down and as soon as I do, it starts running again. BUT when I open it, the FPS is in the teens. I thought something was wrong with the game or my drivers but it happens with both the newest WHQL and Beta drivers. But just now, I decided to run OCCT to see if I would get errors, because I was afraid my GPU was broken, and I noticed that while running the stress test, my GPU temp was really low. Thats when I noticed my card being stuck at 2D clocks. Whats going on ? Why is it doing this. Ive disabled the power limiters in Windows and my Nvidia control panel, although not the Power Draw limiter that GTX 570/580 is fitted with. Do you think that is why ? The Power Draw Limiter downclocking to 2D clocks. And if so, how do I solve this. I have my GPU overclocked (900/1800/2000@1150v), so I could just reduce the OC a bit, but it isnt a reference card (Gainward Phantom) so maybe it would be safe to turn the Power Draw Limiter off.
Anyway, I really need to fix this, becuase I can only play for half an hour and then freeze. thanks.

Does this problem occur in other games? I doubt that your card is dead, when mine died it would just reboot my computer whenever it went up to 3d clocks.

Your power supply is very weak for this card, bare minimum. Try lowering your cpu to stock clocks and see if that fixes it.

Yeah it has done it in Crysis as well.
And I dont think my PSU is too weak, as ive heard of people running i7 gtx 580 SLI setups that only pulled 600W and my PSU can suply 700W, its just rated at 550W.
But I have reduced my OCs a bit, but Im still too pissed to test it out.

Turn down cpu overclock to 3.2ghz and less volts (1.1v). Let us know if it still does it. If it's the psu then it shouldn't downclock.

I hope you mean 1.1v on the GPU O.o

I know CPUs can get worn out over time and start to require more volts, can a GPU aswell ? Becuase Im absolutely possitive that my OC was 100% stable when I got it.

No, turn down your cpu to 3.2ghz and 1.1v. This will reduce the load on your psu and you will be able to tell if that's causing the downclocking. Don't touch the gpu overclock... or maybe tune it down a little.

I'm on latest 275 betas and if my OC is not stable in games it will go 2d.

Take note stable in OCCT doesn't always mean stable in games. Some games will crash your drivers and it will be back in 2d mode.

I had that happened to me a hour ago (happened to me before but very rare like once a month)..

If your OC is not stable,or VRM's overheat then driver crashes in game (load) and recovers quickly..

But then GPU clocks tend to get stuck in 2D mode on these 27x drivers..

The only way to get them unstuck is to restart the system..

I have lowered my OC by 10mhz on the core and problem is gone (no more driver crashes)..

However if you are having this problem on stock clocks set by manufacturer then I recommend you either to up voltage a bit in Aftreburner or to RMA the card..

CHEERS..
