Terible 2600k Chip?

Thread Starter
Just got my SB setup: 2600k, GA-P67-UD7, 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance (I know they are not great)

I have always though that SB was a joy to overclock, and that 4.5Ghz was a piece of cake.

Now i'm having a hard time booting at 45x100 even with 1.4v, LLC 1.

Is there something i'm missing? or is it not that simple, i keep seeing ppl saying, 3 Steps: Multiplier, Vcore, and boot

I know that, im not that new to overclocking. But from what i have seen and what ppl say, most chips do 4.5Ghz with ease. Im having a hard time pushing 4.4 with 1.4v.

Am i mistaken by how well most SB chip clock, or is it just that i have had really bad luck?

Did you try enabling the PLL overvoltage?

your luck... it sucks.

I can get 4.8 without trying on a 2500k

similiar results from alot of other OC'ers...

but this is the second poster that is having an issue with anything above 4.4
both on 2600k

***, mate?

Trying that now, so far 44x100 @ 1.400, LLC 1. Just passed 1 Hour P95.

What im thinking about is that with a bios voltage of 1.400 and LLC 1, i get an idle voltage in Cpu-Z of 1.392, but when it loads it falls all the way down to 1.356v, should i try LLC 2?

The cool thing here is that if im not pleased with this chip, i will order another 2 chips from different web stores, and just return the once that clock the worst. You are allowed to test items that are bought over the web, and return them for a full refound within 2 weeks here.

Couse 99% of SB clocking is by the multiplier.

EDIT: Looks like im testing overclocking this chip for another day or so, then i will order another 2 chips.
