Using that logic at the extreme, you wouldn't be able to add ANY aesthetics to your computer, nor would you be able to justify any purchase except for the very most absolute best performance for every penny spent. I'm not saying that there isn't loads of derp on the other end of the spectrum, as in your example, but I think the OP is worthy of being called a hardware geek in this case.

I am in awe. Out of curiosity do they even make liquid cooling for those?

Just pay it off in full every month. Great and easy way to build your credit score.

and I thought my 6990 was expensive o.o. I thought they were the new 6000 series cards made to look like the 5870x2. Had to read couple pages to clarify it wasn't.

Noice! Each card is worth more than my whole system. I know what you're going to do and I wish I could do it, but my poor 4670 would not be able to handle it. Good luck with your "experiment". Hopefully it becomes profitable.

It's a one off by Asus, but if you've taken both cards apart a 5870x2 and a 6990, the layout is the same format. Center fan blowing across two cooper heatsinks, the VRMs and PLX PCIe bridge chip sit in the exact same locations, memory chips oriented in the same location and the back plate is cooling the rear memory chips. They are not the same cards, but the design layout is basically the same.
