It's just a reasonable expectation. Again, if you have $1500 for Graphics Cards, you have money to buy a new case and motherboard.

A 5870x2 will be faster than a 6990 if he's planning to use it for what I think he will.

You don't have "only" $1500 to spend on graphics cards, LOL.

yeah, its a shame it just got A LOT harder and going to jump again in about a week(85%ish less generation than a week ago). These cards are cool but I don't think I could ever justify paying an extra $350 per card to fit two cores on one pic-e. All the same congrats on the nice cards.

Well in this case it would be 4x 5870 since he has 2x Ares.

Personally I can't justify paying any money specifically for that purpose. In addition to the ridiculous electricity bills, too.

I don't understand your obsession with OP and his personal financial decisions? It is called a HOBBY for a reason. Not everyone buys things STRICTLY based on performance applications. Some of us like to have unique items, custom builds, etc. Sometimes you want an item that fits the color scheme of your case--apparently that is just absurd by your definition as every single penny has to go for "MAX PERFORMANCE!&@^@!!!!". The point of this forum is for people who have a passion/hobby of performance computing to come together and discuss. Every purchase in computer hardware is a bad decision anyways--anything you get today will be outdated or priced significantly less in a month.

You've made your point. We all can see you're apparently upset that some stranger far away has bought 2 items that make him happy but were not the "best" choice from a purely technical standpoint. God forbid he has other tastes and requirements in picking HIS hardware than you do, and also appears to have the earning potential to support his tastes.
