HDD suuuuper outdated, should I be patient or buy now?

Thread Starter
setting up to build a new rig from the ground up...been using this old junky 80gig IDE HDD since ancient times as was looking on some input.

The spindle HDDs are so cheap atm, and the space is huge! way more than I think I would ever use.

on the other hand, i've heard good things about solid state...but at the moment the selection is lacking and the price per GB is kinda crazy.

Should I wait it out and hope for a price cut or splurg on older tech?
