Used to be about getting a good mobo that can handle high bclk, now it's about finding a cpu that has a high max multi, the mobo is just about the features you want/need.
Fair enough. My particular situation is a little weird, since I've tried two CPUs (2500k and 2600k) and two UD4 boards (B2 and B3 revision). I don't have another MoBo so I can't say for certain, but I think it's strange I got two CPUs that can't OC for **** and had almost identical walls.

For example, I can push my 2600k to 5, but it takes 1.5v. 2500k also took 1.5v. Both were (and are) perfectly stable at 4.4 at as low as 1.2v, but anything above that is where it started to get a little wonky. Both took 1.3v to hit 4.6.

2600k runs a little hotter is essentially the only difference between the two chips.

It could be coincidence, but I maintain it has something to do with my motherboard.

I started off with a 2500k & MSI gd45 combo, the cpu did 5.1Ghz max at 1.5V. Traded in the gd45 for a ud4 b3 (gd45 just came out & was supposed to be a sli board, but wasn't) & the same cpu did 5.1at 1.5V again. Next 2500k was a 5Ghz max, finally did OK with the third one which did 5.5ghz.
I could see someone who is more familiar with a particular BIOS possibly get a slightly higher clock or better performance with their board of choice easier, but the OC potential really is in the chip with 1155.
Memory clocks might be more dependent on the board though, Ive seen people with hyper kits doing 2133Mhz 7-7-7 on the m4e b3 & ud7 b2, where a lot of other boards just can't do it...

OC is all in the CPU, certain boards, on the ASUS side its the sabertooth have problems OCing as high as some of the other boards. I only know of the sabertooths issues through a reviewer(who is pretty partial to asus) over on another forums was talking about it quite recently. It was only a 100mhz or so as he said.

Anyways it really depends on the boards, different boards are meant for different classes.

When it comes to SB this is what I tell people how to buy a board:
#1 do you need support for 3 GPUs? if yes buy the UD7 or M4E
#2 go for a well known brand, usually better known brands have better BIOS support and better built boards. You are good ion this subject since you picked the best two brands. You also usually get at least 3 year warranty with good brands, opposed to 1 or 2 years.
#3 Find a board with the features you want and need and in your price range.
#4 if two boards are very similar pick on that you are more partial too, this is judged by the looks, for some people color scheme, or past brand prefernce.

That is really all there is to P67 board selection. All the boards have their problems, b/c no board is perfect. At least you aren't trying to pick a X58 board which needs the board to OC BLCK well.

Both are equally awesome, so just take your pick. You can't go wrong with any imo.
