Should I Use This PSU?

So I have a power supply that is 8-9 years old. However, it has only be used for about a year total, and was extremely high end when I bought it. It's 850 watts.

Is it safe to use this?

it should be alright. PSU don't go bad just sitting on a shelf. So if it was truly only used for a year then it should be ok.

Provide a picture of the sticker on the side of the psu - if it is as old as you say it very likely is nowhere near an 850W psu. But providing that info will help us determine it's worth for use. Also would need to know what hardware you plan on having it push.

What PSU is it? what system are you using it with? You can't just say that its an old 850 and expect to get any sort of good recommendation

8-9 years ago is ATX12V v1.2 at best. More likely ATX v1.3. We're on ATX12V v2.3. The expectations for load distribution and electrical characteristics have changed quite a bit.

That's only about 500W on the main rails. This power supply was never a "high end 850W". It would only qualify as a 300W by today's standards, assuming those ratings are honest.
