CM212+ Mods?

Thread Starter
So i picked up a 212+ Today. getting 61c full load OCed to 3.72ghz... ambients of like 80 degrees in my room.

Are there some mods i can do to lower my temps? I have a big Nidec Beta V 38mm fan im going to put on it soon, with the blademaster pulling air from the other side, also would a fan shroud do anything?

Another thing, does this mod help any on the CM212?

Im not lapping my CPU or Cooler, but any suggestions for lower temps please

I see that you have already taped up the side of the 212+ to prevent air leakage.

To further mod the 212+, adding a 2nd fan to do push-pull will enhance the cooling performance. The improvement will depend on fans used. If you use a relatively weak single fan, then 2 fans will improve noticeably. If you are already using a powerful single fan, then using 2 will not bring much.

Using a fan shroud will also enhance a little.

Now, I notice that you are using XFX HD5770 graphics card. Which version is yours? The reference cooling (pic 1) or the non reference cooling (pic 2)?

If you are using the non reference cooling version, then I suggest you to read this 3-page thread. It shows that with a vertically oriented 212+ (ie exhausting hot air through the case top) in an Antec 300 with an internal-heat-dumping card (HD5850) will bring better thermal management, with some other adjustments.

Simply put, the hot air exhausted from such a card will likely go through the CPU heatsink on its way out of the case. This obviously bring a negative impact to the cooling performance of the CPU cooler.

That's not my pic, i was just asking if that would help at all if i did do that.

my card is reference, so it does exhaust outside the case.

I do have a Nidec Beta V 38mm fan, pulled from a Dell System.
