Zap, The PC is currently being used as a workstation, I've had it for a couple of years so I plan on turning it into a server.
Alot cheaper than building a new system from scratch.

A lot of PSU's with fans are super quiet now days, I own a Seasonic X850, Seasonic X650, Antec TP650, and an older Seasonic ATX Silencer Pro 470watt model with the 80mm fan and all these that I own are super quiet, I seriously cannot hear them and I hate loud fans_ Its basically dead silent, walking around the house and typing on the keyboard makes more noise than these PSU's make. I don't really see a point in investing big money on a Seasonic fanless x400-series, unless you have ears that are super sensitive to sound_ You can probably remove the fan out of your Thermaltake unit if you're not pulling a lot of wattage from it_

I wouldn't take the fan out. Replacing it with a lower rpm unit would probably work out okay though.

It'll be sitting idly alot of the time, the heaviest thing it might be doing is running a virtual machine or two. But most of the time it'll be used as a file server for streaming vids and music.
Replacing it ain't a bad idea, I scored a free silent thermaltake fan that isn't doing anything. I'll have to check what size fan the psu takes, and the power connection for the fan.

The connector isn't an issue. You can easily cut the connector off of the original and solder it onto the replacement.

If it has the same fan and fan controller as the original, then it isn't noisy, but also isn't quiet. I could definitely hear the whoosh of moving air. My seat-of-pants guess would be that the fan doesn't run any slower than 1300-1500RPM, because it sounded as if it moved at least as much air as a Yate Loon D12SL, which is around 1300 RPM at full 12v. The fan is a D12SH, which can hit 2200 RPM at full 12v.

That it is.

Might I suggest a SeaSonic SS-300ET for your server? It is currently on sale at Newegg for $40. It should be quiet, and is 80Plus Bronze. With 300W it should be reasonably efficient at the nominal loads you will be putting on it, with at least 82% efficiency at 60W output.
