AX1200- 8pin cable vs HAFX

Hello,
I am concerned about my 8 pin EATX12v cable touching the back plate of my cpu cooler. The parts involved are HAF-X, AX1200, P8P67 Deluxe, i7-2600k, and Hyper 212 Plus.

The case has an open spot for easy access to the back of the motherboard. This opening allows wires and cables to touch the back plate of the 212 plus. I am aware that cable management can remove this contact and my concerns. But....the AX1200 cable for the 8pin is too short.

Option 1: I connect the cable and just plug it into the 8pin on the motherboard. I would like to hide the cable, so this option is not desired.

Option 2: I am able to run the cable straight up the back. The problem I have is the cable is about 1 inch above the back plate. When I place the side of the case back, I believe the cable is touching the back plate.

I am looking for a solution to this problem. Does anyone know of extension cables or an adapter to allow me better cable management? Do they make a cover to seal the cases easy access to the motherboard? Is it possible that the back plate does not get hot enough to damage that one power supply cable touching it?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Having it touch the backplate is fine. It won't get as hot as some people may lead it to be.

If it's still a smidgen too short, I would suggest using a extension cable. They come fairly cheap or you can always make your own if you're a DIY person like me.

I thought the HAF X came with an 8 pin extension cable..?

Use that.

But if it doesn't, it really doesn't matter if it's touching. It's all insulated anyways.

The cable is connected behind the motherboard and has some play in it. I was just picturing the cable burning against the back plate. I couldn't find any information on the temperature of a back plate. Better to be safe than sorry. Thank you!
