We have folders with less than 100 posts and have 100k-millions of points, I do not think a post requirement is the way to go either.

The thing about postbit is we get so many new recruits during the CC, while some leave after it we also have some that end up staying.
You may not believe me, the reason why I started folding last year was cause the CC. When I saw mort's post I decided to jump in and help as much as I could (also to win stuff) and now look where I am.

Eh well I don't really care about the prizes. If I win I win, and if I don't I don't. So I am not really worried about this stuff. I'm just happy my personal farm is starting to grow. The only thing I am really concerned about for the CC is the point system, and I have faith that that will get worked out. Then I am sure we can take home the moneky in next year's battle. That, my friend, will make me happy!

Hey guys,

Being a new folder myself, thanks to the CC, I'd like to offer my perspective.

I buy my own games, and I'm not interested in winning games.

I wouldn't flip a WC set up, I'd put it to good use, and keep folding knowing that I have my temps in check. But that's just me. You're probably right in general though.

I've been trying to get my postbit since the CC ended, but I didn't know about the 10 regular WU's requirements, before running a bigadv.

From my perspective, there are a lot of mixed messages when it comes to folding. People say we're folding for a cure, it's not a competition, etc.

Yet, the whole CC challenge is based on competition, with teams trying to win a monkey for their home page, what ever that means.

The guides, and info on folding are huge, and are all over the place.

For someone who is new, and has no clue about what folding is, how to get started, and keep going, it's like info overload, so they end up doing nothing. I speak from experience, and that's why I never got into it in the first place. The whole thing seemed like such a daunting task.

Yet, here's what got me started.

The CC had already begun.

Someone made a post in the Intel forum, he said, guys we need help with the Team Challenge, go to this thread....

Download and Install this program, and use this user name and passkey, and add it to this section.

Then download, this program to monitor your progress.

That was easy enough to follow, and I did it, and I thought, man, that was easy, and this whole time I thought it was so hard. I had looked into it before, but everywhere I looked were these huge guides, and threads that led to other threads, etc.

I could never figure out what software to use, and how it all worked.

Maybe we need a "Folding for Dummies" guide, or something along those lines.

A guide that is simple, to the point, that gives people the ABC's to folding, that shows them how easy it is to set up and running.

Also, link to examples of what cures if any have been found thanks to folding, or what good has come from it.

We want the higher tier to still be easy to get into but just be a little more difficult than signing up for a raffle. I think a requirement of a postbit would be a very good example of the level of difficulty I am referring to, they are not difficult to get (ie the postbit alond isn't a badge of honor) but you can certainly tell that people that don't have a post bit don't have one just because they don't care enough to.
What if the prizes were available 2 weeks after the CC ended?

For new folders to qualify for prizes, you are given 2 weeks to get your postbit. Surely people can get 50K points in 2 weeks.

It would encourage people to keep folding after the CC is over. This way, they don't just fold 1 WU past 50% during the CC to qualify for a prize.

4. One can only dream of this perfect world with less Z.

We always have complaints on how to distribute the money, its rather hard to make everyone happy.
But your thoughts on why it should be split up that way would be good feedback for future events.
I'll be honest, this felt very disorganized, and boring, that I didn't make it to the 2nd part. I was trying to help out to get a Ustream going, as it would hold more people, instead of having more then 1 stream.

When the prizes were being drawn, there was no excitement or interaction, half the time we could hardly read who won.

I'm a very sarcastic guy myself, which I'm sure you've noticed in some of my posts, but you guys come across pretty arrogant and un-approachable at times. Take this as feedback, not criticism.

People were having fun in the chat room, but there was zero to no interaction with the host, leading up to the prizes, or while the prizes were being drawn.

Also, if you had more $25 - $50 prizes, you would have even more winners. Instead of 5 x $100 winners. That $500 can be further spread out.

Folding is folding no matter what and they are still folding hard just like the rest of you.
I agree. Those who fold regularly throughout the year, should be put into a prize pool with the hardware, since we know they're going to put it to good use.

Speaking from experience, a lot of people, really don't know what folding is, and how it all works.

Once I understood it, it's a lot of fun, and I'm still learning the ropes.

So since I don't have, what was it you suggested, 25 rep (don't know if u suggested or not, I'm onmy phone atm and as I recall u did suggest that. Sry if I am wrong) I shouldn't be entitled to the higher tier of prizes? Because after I help people out, they fail to click the +rep button...no I fold 24/7 and report 50K PPD and is only growing.

As far as the second part I agree with you. I have two posts on here that neither Z or chris bothered responding to. I was going back and forth with Z and then it decided to quit talking. So yea...continue answering the select posts.... >
