I dont mind that but I dont believe its right that people who fold all year round get pipped to the best prices by someone lucky who has only folded for the CC.

I think we should have 3 tiers.

First tier is for everyone, reguardless of how long you have folded for OCN.

The second tier is for people have posted regular updates for at least 6 months. I'm not saying that people how cant fold over night or at weekends should be excluded from this tier, as long has you have a steady points stream for 6 months then you can be in tier two.

The third tier is for the hardcore folders. The backbone of the team. People who take part in the foldathons, post on the forum and have been folding for I say a year or more or have a million plus points.

The first tier should include prizes like games and small items. The second tier should include the paypal prizes and the OCN accounts along with some mid ranged gear. The third and final tier should have the big boy prizes in them.

As far as the second part I agree with you. I have two posts on here that neither Z or chris bothered responding to. I was going back and forth with Z and then it decided to quit talking. So yea...continue answering the select posts.... >
Agreed. Rep shouldn't be a requirement. I've helped so many people out around here, who never bother to click the rep button. And look, I've got 86 rep, and you have 12 rep.

Yet, you have over 2 Million points, while I'm still just working towards my postbit.

But we definitely need some sort of requirements like having a postbit like I mentioned in my post above, and giving new people 2 weeks to get it after the CC ends. This would encourage the new folders to keep going after the CC.

Also agree on the post part, not about Z, just in general. Z is pretty helpful overall, and it must be daunting to have to deal with so many people.

I remember during the CC I was asking about how the whole points system worked, 'cuz it didn't make sense how the smaller teams had such a big edge. When ever people asked similar questions, they were called whiners.

So I stopped posting in that thread all together.

Since I'm a new folder, I don't know how everything works yet, so I ask, and I only need the answer once as I catch on quick, but call me a whiner instead? That could've led to me not folding any further, 'cuz it did cross my mind.

This quote of what I posted earlier best explains it I believe. "I want to encourage more new people that are interested in the prizes to take that little extra step to get into the higher tier that maybe they wouldn't have otherwise. If we get even a few extra people that normally would just do the minimum to sign up, to do the little bit more work folding to get into the higher tier because they want a shot at the better prizes then that would be a success."

That and also the fact that the possibility of serious folders getting games and newbie temporary folders getting folding hardware are what I believe are the biggest problems currently, that just doesn't make sense.

Like I said previously I don't want the requirements to get into the higher tier to be difficult enough to discourage people from getting into the higher tier or to "separate the boys from the men" but just inspire some people that would have only been boys just for the prizes to consider folding the extra little bit of folding to become men. Does that analogy still make sense or has it fallen apart? LOL I hope you get what I'm saying.
btw - I just want to point out that you've been very helpful and encouraging after the CC ended.

I agree on the postbit requirement to qualify for prizes too, this way it gets people folding AFTER the CC is over, not just during.

Heck, I'm working on mine now.

I think it needs to go a little faster. I got bored/distracted after the keyboards were given away in the first drawing.

I also agree. The way Rep works on OCN would not be good for folders.

I folded but did not submit my pics because I was on vacation and got back today. It's all good. Any bit of help for OCN.

The CC is held once a year, its the one time all teams come together have fun and show how much dedication they put into folding.
Stanford has nothing to do with the competitions, but I am sure they love the fact that for a few days of the year we pump out more work units which moves the science along.

For someone who is new, and has no clue about what folding is, how to get started, and keep going, it's like info overload, so they end up doing nothing. I speak from experience, and that's why I never got into it in the first place. The whole thing seemed like such a daunting task.
We have so many guides for countless reasons...
The different amount of programs you can fold under and monitor is rather large, I have the basic ones supported by Stanford in my signature.
In the essentials sticky we have them all and you can go through if you like and its rather organized.

I'll be honest, this felt very disorganized, and boring, that I didn't make it to the 2nd part. I was trying to help out to get a Ustream going, as it would hold more people, instead of having more then 1 stream.

When the prizes were being drawn, there was no excitement or interaction, half the time we could hardly read who won.

People were having fun in the chat room, but there was zero to no interaction with the host, leading up to the prizes, or while the prizes were being drawn.
It wasn't that organized being a trial run so yes, I apologize for the mess ups.
The limit on the channel wasn't our fault and it wont happen again.

Not sure what you mean, cause I was speaking in the chat room.

I just wanna thank OCN and those that donated prizes. It made it that more fun. I actually just started folding a couple months ago, and im now addicted. Almost to a million points btw. CC just made it better. I completely understand that tier system would be better, especially for those that contribute a lot of energy and $$$ to folding, even tho its not about $$$.
