Would a new mousepad be worth it?

I am currently using the Mionix Naos 5000 mouse on a Mionix Sargas 260 cloth mouse pad, I am wondering if Investing up to $30 in a hard surface mouse pad would be worth the money, the Mionix scanner tool says that a cloth surface is not optimal for my mouse type but I haven't noticed any problems myself, would I notice a big difference with a hard surface?

edit: Cuad, do not show up in this thread and bad talk the Mionix Naos 5000, I don't care about what you have to say.

I have a glass mouse pad. Its nice, but when your hand oil/sweat get on the pad, its can get frustrating. I plan on going back to a non/hard pad before SWTOR in Dec.

I would say yes.

When I had the Alioth 320, there were some tracking problems with the mouse. I think it got a score of like 6 or 5 with the surface analyzer. My hard desk surface, however, got a 7. In the picture, you can see the weird tracking at different DPI.

naos50002.png

Top 3 lines are Alioth 320 at 5040 DPI, 3060 DPI, and 540 DPI, respectively.
Bottom 3 are on my desk with 540, 3060, and 5040, respectively.

if you arent having problems you dont really need to buy a hard mat. the problems people have using lasers on cloth are easily noticeable so i think if you dont notice anything not working properly dont bother. however if you decide to get a hard mat check out these,

+ one for Cuad...he just hates wink.gif

I have Mionix Propus 380 and it goes well with both my RAT 7 and Naos 5000...the build quality is amazing and it's super smooth! and I prefer hard mats over soft ones any time..thumb.gif

More in first impressions biggrin.gif

Edit: Propus 380 > Sargas 360 any time!

Am I supposed to be able to draw a straight line? Maybe I just have a very unsteady hand but in my quick attempts my line are going nuts.

Quick test I did, is this unusual/bad?

u have bad hands.
and if u cant notice any issue on a cloth pad with a laser sensor that obviusly dont works good on cloth surfaces, than u will not notice anything better in an hard pad. That's logic after all.

Looking at those lines, you will notice a difference.

You might not know it now, because you don't have anything to compare to. Try a hard pad, chances are you will notice the difference, if not, at least now you know.
I personally hate cloth pads.

The Mionix 360 is a great hard pad for the price.

I bought myself an Artisan Shiden-Kai Mid large mousepad to go with my Kone[+], which uses the same sensor as the Naos 5000. Still have to wait at least 2 more weeks.
