6950 twin frozr III up to par with temps? - Page 3

Just did a Kombustor test with 1920x1080 fullscreen, AA 8xMSAA and PostFX on and max GPU temp was 56C. Score was 1776 points and 26fps average - no idea if this is good or not.

Trying to get some BFBC2 numbers for you but my GPU is currently freezing during gameplay. Might have to uninstall 11.5b and go back to 11.5.

In extreme burn with the core clock jumping from 600-850MHz frequently it reaches max 70C.

Fan speed hits 62%. CPU temps hit 47C during the GPU burn in and during the Kombustor benchmark test it hits 51-51C- I did down clock CPU and memory to default speeds though to see if they were somehow relating to the tearing I can't seem to get rid of.

You say your card doesn't tear at all though?

No tearing whatsoever, can you manually put the fan speed to 75% and then run it again BUT put powertune in CCC to +10%, this also may do something with your tearing because my other card teared without powertune on which was well, weird.

I am an ATI newbie. Haven't owned an ATI card since 2001. No idea what Powertune is. Is that the Overdrive PowerControl setting in CCC?

67-69C with Power Control at 10% and fan at 75%. Not enough difference than the fan on auto with this card IMO.

Powercontrol gives the card more power when it needs it, i actually get 5 more fps in crysis 2 with it at +10%, but hmm, same temps as me. hmm

When your gpu is jumping around in furmark/kom that means it's being throttled. Furmark gets throttled via the driver.

Is this a bad thing or a good thing? Sounds like a bad thing.

Edit: Seems that increasing Power Control 10% has made it stable so BFBC2 stops freezing on me. Lame that I have to do that to a stock set card for gaming but whatever helps. Still tempted to just RMA this card.

It depends, but generally it's a good thing. It prevents you from frying your card running what is essentially just a heat producing app.

The powertune is the software that controls the power envelope that the card is "allowed" to use. If you leave it zero or minus XX it will throttle the card to stay under X degree. Throttling cards during a game can cause crashes when you're overclocked.
