People are the masters of their own destiny, I think that many of those who play video games have similar mentalities, and these mentalities (be it habit or preference) lead to someone being obese and not just playing video games. Video games is simply a side effect in my opinion.

Thanks for the conversation.
You should read the article. Then you would learn that they did not do a simple correlation test. There was actually a control and test group.

The biggest problem is people making opinions about things without even reading the article. Fail.

decreases it for me. too lazy to get food, busy gaming.

I find this is usually the case, it's polarizing. Hence why there are two kinds of nerds, skinny nerds and fat nerds.

There are two type of gamers:

1. Fat gamer: Stays all day at home, eats between gaming sessions (doesn't have to be eating on the keyboard) but since he's playing all day he stays at home and needs food.

2. Skinny Gamer (usually hardcore): these gamers don't let anything get in there way, some people might loose weight while playing because they skip meals.

I used to be a fat gamer and I've gone on a diet and actually gaming is helping me pass the time... because when your on a diet.. it's all slow motion..

Hot pockets and oven pizza aren't going to make you slim and trim, and I do the same thing when I do eat during computing.
im the same, except coffee i drink alot of coffee when im in a gaming session

You are probably eating foods that raise glucose levels allowing you to do the mental tasks and not feel hungry. Or you do what I do and use caffine [any substance] to curb hunger, it works in the same way as nicotine. =) That's the morally wrong way to diet, though I do it mainly because I need to be awake vs need to eat. =P

It's good to know what foods do stuff like this though, you can snack on them all the time.
Milk has high amounts of calories, the added sugar from the chocolate doesn't help. I love chocolate milk too, and drink it a lot and yet I don't gain weight. It really isn't more complicated than watching your intake. If you want to lose weight, make sure calories in < calories burned. Reverse that if you want to gain weight. If you consume a lot of chocolate milk or regular milk, count those calories, they aren't exclusive from the rest of your diet just because it's liquid.

Wait people eat, like at their computers? I'm always scared I'll spill something lol. I don't often even drink water at my actual computers (I'll have it a few feet away and get up to take drinks occasionally).

I'm a large guy (6'1", 285lbs), and I am an avid video gamer. When gaming, I tend to skip meals. I have a handful of friends who are skinny, game more than I do, and eat more than I do. To me it looks like physical activity/exercise, combined with metabolism and genetics a lot more than "If you play video games, you eat and become fat".

I don't believe "studies" much anymore.

I do blame my weight on not being so physically active though.
