Hmm, so I guess the extra investments in customer service, as mentioned in the article you linked to, means they just have a facility doing nothing. Let's put an end to this, I'm not the kind that argues often. Every year companies make investments in different areas. For all we know, HP could have made more investments in the customer service area and actually gotten decent reps. And while doing that they also got some decent-er build quality. Until we get an article stating HP's reliablity is for THIS year, we can't really say "they're bad," as I have said earlier new investments=possibly better service.

Wouldn't want 1080p on a 16" display. Windows has to modify itself for the pixel density, and it looks horrible imo.

No, that's the problem. HP has been as bad as this for around three years now.

hmm. Thinking about it makes me realize something that most people aren't very tech savvy and most of the problems can be self corrected. I think the fact that HP and Dell outsourcing their reps to india for example, it's harder to communicate and understand clearly thus pissing off customers and got a bad rating. We could stop this argument here I think because I've never had any problems with Dell and HP before. I've bought 5 laptops from HP for my dad's business and they are working fine. I myself use 2 Dell laptops in my life and they haven't broken yet.

I have worked with the home version of HP laptops and have had problems with them. Even my HP died in less than 1 year (It did have the nvidia 6xxx mobile chip in it....I know) but still nothing but problems from friends. The Elitebooks on the other hand.......

Damn. Hmm... I remember someone mentioning me the Lenovo Y570. It had the 6770M and a Core i7 2630QM and from what I can remember it was around $1000. Let me try and find that for you, BRB.

EDIT: no, it has the GT 555M. 1366x768 screen. Forget it.

Looks like you'll either need to sacrifice the dual HDD support or pay more if you want Sager or Asus.
