Ok, i've just re read the entire thread for you. There isn't one single post by an AMD user saying that FX will kick arse. Subtle or otherwise can you point these posts out?

What we do have is the light hearted tongue in cheek post below... from an Intel user, and of course our much beloved Balla playing devils advocate for the blue team.

If you are averaging 60fps and it dips in a game to 50s you won't notice. Your eyes won't tell. 60fps is what every one shoots for and is butter smooth. People on console are at 30fps in most games lol. The problem these days is not the processors anymore, you want better frame rates? I blame Nvidia and ATI. These graphic cards sucks no matter how cool they make the heat sinks and boxes look.

Your right it is possible I take Balla too seriously and all the people saying 8 cores will blow for games and all the rest about real cores vs virtual cores etc etc, its lots and lots of speculation very few verifiable facts (we do not know how this applies to bd modules they are something new and entirely different) most of its missleading at best. If you must speculate make it clear that is what you are doing rather than presenting a whole stream of unverifiable and made up "facts".

I did not at any point incite a flame war, I simply asked that people rather than making things up stuck to the facts and waited untill there are some Real stats to work with before catagorising an entire new generation of proccessors.

If you decide to take umbrage with that then thats your call.

None of my facts are made up, they come directly from the horses mouth.

I will admit I'm playing connect the dots, since they haven't given out a lot of information. However with the information made available, how CMT works, the loss of performance that comes with it, the current pricing graph we have, AMDs current position as far as performance per core goes and JFs general demeanor when it comes to "per core" performance tells me I'm probably not too far off with my assumptions.

What else are we going to do? Its a forum for computer parts, just don't take anything personally and nobody will get affected over another's opinion.

I think it's hilarious how many feathers this CMT thing has ruffled.

I see it this way:
-if the performance per clock per "core" exceeds current deneb/thuban architecture, it's win for AMD.
-AMD's biggest problem for the past 3 years or so had been this hard limit of TDP; if they can get two "cores" to run within the TDP of a single core of old architecture, it's win for AMD.
-if performance with all cores loaded is within 80-90% of the performance of a conventional 8-core CPU with a TDP of a four core, it's win for AMD.
-if you don't think it gives enough dual or quad threaded efficiency for framerates, buy a CPU that does. If you can use as many threads as possible, then go for it.

Remember, win for AMD isn't always beating everything that intel has done; to me, it's improving their own stuff beyond this K8/K10 architectural rut they've been stuck in for years. If they can do that, they can really get competitive again.

I don't think it's a huge accomplishment to best the current, extremely outdated architecture. If BD only bests the current Thubans by 10% in per core performance, I really doubt the community will be satisfied. Especially for gamers like many of us on OCN, that is simply not enough.

BD has big improvement in branch prediction and prefetchers

If people from both "sides" didn't scream fanboy/flamewar at every turn, we wouldn't have flame wars in the first place. Just ignore the dumb comments, we know there's probably going to be an idiot in every thread. Calling them out just perpetuates the problem.
