I want nahalem-level per-core performance or above myself. I was somewhat soured on AMD because of this C2 955. At the time I wanted something that was at least in the ballpark of a stock i7 920 - and would have gone that route if money had allowed - but alas, in went the 955. Unstable for months until I finally hit the cpu-nb with enough volts, took so much power when overclocked it blew my old 550w power supply, won't accept a multiplier other than the default despite being a black edition, etc.
I really wish the best for AMD with this bulldozer project. Honestly, it's been in the works long enough (bulldozer was originally supposed to replace Clawhammer!) and intel could really use some competition, although I am awfully surprised they offered sandy at SUCH a low price compared to their hot stuff in the past.
My line of thought is gonna follow the OP's. I want more than one CPU next time.
