How do you get around the 2600K idle bug?

I dunno if you all know what I am talking about

the 2500-2600K's have whats known as a idle bug

Like my 2600K at 4.5Ghz did 2 hours, then 4 hours of Linpack at 1.260 volts and passed with flying colors, then I tried 2 then 4 hours of Prime 95 blend and it passed that as well, just for me to be sitting idle on desktop 2 hours later and crash

I eventually had to bump it up to 1.280 volts to be idle stable for 12 hours

My stock voltage overclocking attempts were the same thing, at 4.3ghz it did 1.225 volts for EIGHT hours of Linpack, then boom, 30 minutes later crash idling while doing nothing

I had to move it down to 4.1ghz for 1.225 volts to finally be stable for over 12 hours at idle

My question is though, is there a way to correct this? I hear about PLL voltage, should I be possibly setting this to something to correct the BSoD's I am getting when idle? Or is it possibly VCCIO voltage?

You using fixed or offset voltage? Did you disable the power saving features?

Try increasing vccio to 1.15 and report back. Also no need to create three seperate threads for the one cpu in question. As the above poster has asked, are you uaing offset or manual? And what are your bios setting?

I am using manual voltage settings

Should I be using offset?

I was told to NOT disable the power saving features, I should disable them and try my 1.260 4.5Ghz overclock again? How high can I put VCCIO without damage?

Also I made three threads cause they deal with three different issues. one is cold bug, other is finding out stock 2600K voltage, and other is asking people what their temps are with overclocks and what voltage they needed

Try 1.15v vccio. IIRC highest is 1.2v but not recommended for 24/7. Leave safety features on, and imho using manual is better. Also what is you pll set to?

PLL is set to overvoltage turned onto Auto which from what I am reading everyone recommended

What safety features are you talking about?

Should I disable the C1, C1E,C3E states?

Sorry i meant to ask what the cpu pll voltage set to?

EDIT: No need to disable them, also leave speedstep on aswell.

Edit: i would recommend reducing the cpu pll voltage to around 1.73-1.75v as it has helped in stability in some cases and also helps reduce temps aswell. Also try increasing vcccio to 1.15v and leave it there for a few days and report back if you have your still having idle problems. Good luck thumb.gif

Idle problems at 4.5ghz, or at my currrent 4.1?

Why havent you tried increasing your VCCIO to 1.15v yet? He's asked you THREE times but you keep ignoring him.

Just do it.
For a fourth time, increase the VCCIO to 1.15v and then see if you get idle BSOD's anymore or not.

And obviously, at 4.5 ghz...isn't that pretty self explanatory? :/ Why would you need to do it at 4.1 ghz if you're not having problems at 4.1 ghz? Come on, you gotta use your head, here!

I know it was stop 0x124...that's interaction between CPU-->IMC related, as opposed to 0x101, which is cpu cache/instruction set/core lockup(freeze).

I've also been getting some idle issues when power saving is running, it does respond to upping the vcore, ill try to up the vtt from 1.120 to 1.15 and see it it works well on my end.

EDIT:

So I've tried VccIO at 1.140 , 1.160, 1.180 1.20v and all of them gives me a BSOD when loading windows ( after the animation, right before the welcome screen ) 0124. If I disble c3/c6 It can load windows w/o fail.
