How do you get around the 2600K idle bug? - Page 5

Here you go

LLC kicking in max jumps voltage up to 1.240 at times, most of the time its at 1.232

EDIT: Dammit, I wish you would have asked for 4.5ghz with 1.260 volts to start, I don't feel like running another linpacker =\\

@Falk,

I've been using PLL at 1.520~1.600 ( just randomly changing them ) and I do get a 124 BSOD on blend with my 4.5Ghz settings (I've stabilized my 4.8Ghz with 1.452v) VTT is at 1.120v mostly and VccSA on the Gigabyte is 0.920v stock.

Im backing down to 4.5Ghz since it requires far less voltages, Rignt now I have it at DVID with a -0.010v offset LLC = OFF, with the 4.8 I had to enable LLC and DVID at +0.115 to maintain 1.452v or it will bsod 101 on me.

From what you've posted PLL might be able to help me on the load 124 errors, how about VTT/VccSA what should I look for in order to know when to change these.
So you only got the 0x124 when you lowered your PLL but not when it was at auto?

Oddly enough, I got bored and tried 1.236v load, 0.965 VCCSA, 1.15 VTT, 1.52v DDR, PLL default (1.8v) and about 20 minutes in, the system just hard locked. No BSOD at all...just locked. Set those settings back to default (besides 1.236v load), got 0x124 in like 16 minutes. Set PLL voltage to 1.86v, didn't get 0x124 until 1 hour and 20 minutes...

Pretty convinced that if you get a 0x101, that's pure and ONLY vcore, while both PLL and vcore can help with 0x124.

Run the intel burn test (downloadcthe one I uploaded and run exe, select maximum stress) and download the latest realtemp (3.67)

IMHO and im sure many will agree, the best stress tester for sandy is prime blend. Anything over 12hrs is considered a good indication of stability.

A quick way would be to use Intel burn test but temps will be way higher than prime blend (roughly 5/10c higher than prime blend)

12hour prime blend and 20+ run at maximum is good enough for me to ensure 100% stability 'even at idle'

Sorry but im not convinced yhat your cpu is stable so I would recommend trying to pass 20runs atleast with intel burn test at maximum then run prime blend overnight, then we can sort out your idle issues.

Good luck

EDIT: but for now could you post a screenie of INtel burn test 20runs at maximum and realtemp.

@Falkentyne

I've never used PLL in auto just randomly upping and downing it.. Im gonna try it on auto now.. Im getting 124 in mid loads like SC2.

I tried something, I left everything to auto at x45 memory at none XMP profile.. I get an instant BSOD 124 with primeblend I enable LLC and its good.. So 124 is also a sign for the lack of vcore among all other things?

Also my FSB is always read as 100.3Mhz, maybe this 0.3 is screwing things up hahah!

Yeah it can vary, but 124 is also a sign that you need more vcore. But it seems you can balance PLL voltage with vcore to possibly use a tiny bit less vcore...

What's strange is this, though.
On my CPU that I degraded a LOT, I *always* get 0x101 if I run prime blend if the vcore isn't high enough. However, if I KEEP decreasing vcore, prime will 0x101 the instant i press start. But if I run something at light load (including black ops or just go to to the main menu), it will 0x124.

But on my "stronger" 2600k, prime blend will 0x124 instead of 0x101. It only seems to 0x101 in prime at around 1.428v at 5 ghz. Plus that one seems to give me idle BSOD if the vcore is 1.428v on the desktop idle. It doesn't around 1.440v. Maybe I'll try raising the PLL to see if the idle 0x124 goes away. That's IF i try running at 5 ghz again.

I'm doing another 12 hour 1.260v 4.5 ghz prime blend run to make sure it passes, then I'll see if I idle it at 5 ghz with 1.410v LLC2. I'll be very unhappy, though, if just running it idle with that vcore will cause even more degradation, though....

Every time I try to run Intel Burn test, the version you gave me, it keeps not letting me do Max memory, windows 7 is eating up like 2.5gigs at boot alone
post #49 of 117
^Then you've got more issues than just an unstable overclock.

I don't think his CPU is stable either, but 20 runs isn't going to prove anything. I've had plenty of laughably unstable overclocks that would pass 20, 50, even 100 runs on max memory ALL day long. Failures were usually in the 110-120 run area.

150-200 runs of IBT/Linx + 24 hours of P95 blend... then you can call it stable.

just run it on very high and do 50 runs. make sure you have win7 special pack 1 installed. post a screenie with realtemp version 3.67 is the most updated version) running and cpu-z 1.57.1

EDIT: Sorry mate but I just realised you already said that you used it before so why would you say that it doesn't run? In future posting screenshots goes a long way
