How do you get around the 2600K idle bug? - Page 8

That's mainly because of the IMC. If you wanted to test what was the Northbridge/RAM on Core 2 systems, you used blend. If you wanted to test the CPU itself, you used Linpack or Prime small FFT (Blend would often take many hours to fail while small FFT or linpack could fail quickly).

Having the IMC on the CPU makes more things likely to fail now.

What ram are you using Falk? I was thinking of sticking my ram to 1T timings too, just dread another 1-2 hours Intel test
post #73 of 117
2x4 GB gskill ripjaws 12800's. or 12600s or whatever its called.
1T vs 2T doesn't seem to make a difference in stability.

Yeah from what I am reading somebody else put up, it only makes a difference in benchmark scores of 300-400MBps

First page. Suggestion to leave C1 and Speedstep on = LOL

I hate speedtest and C1 states.

Maybe I'm retarded, however as far as I know every other cpu I've ever owned required more voltage to run load than it did idle.

Again, read the link in my sig about LLC and why it can causes issues like this. It'll help you to better understand voltage delivery and that it's not just as simple as the numbers you're reading in CPU-Z.

Just a quick input here although probably not desirable try raising the core idle voltage. My 2600K has been used alot at 4.8Ghz with 1.44v going though it. Now its worked fine but it starting getting idle bluescreens. At first it was just in powersave vcore downvolt mode then in performance mode too. I raised the idle vcore up 0.1v and it is rock solid with no bsod now. This makes sense tho as after i started volting my old phenom 955BE with 1.55v its minimum volts for 800Mhz raised from 0.725v to 0.95v. Anyhoo to double check ive ordered a new chip and im going to leave it all at stock and put everything back into downvolt powersave to see if a new chip stays stable.

Try setting the vcore back to where it was, and then raise your PLL voltage to 1.86-1.88v and see if that makes the idle BSOD (which i KNOW is 0x124) go away. Let me know if it does...
