Thread Starter
I can't seem to find a definite answer on resetting my SSD for a clean install. Could anyone help me or link me to a guide?

Thanks!

What do you mean by "reset"? Just do a quick format.

Its best to just do a quick format on an SSD drive rather than a full format

TRIM should be working automatically with Win7 and that SSD. I'm not sure what you're trying to do here.

You can make sure TRIM is running by typing the following in a command window:

cd c:\windows\system32
fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

"0" as a result means you're good to go.

Intel has a "toolbox" you can play around with though.

I read somewhere that if you reinstalled windows you should do some form of a full reset on the ssd to blow out the blocks that were disabled by trim. I think its the secure erase on the SSD toolkit but I am not sure.

A Secure Erase will do a total wipe and leave the drive as clean as it was when you took it out the box (nearly). This is a better opption than just a format.
Most firmware updates are of the destructive type as well. So it there is a newer firmware available, go ahead & update it. This is the only thing better than a secure wipe for that just out of the dryer, fresh, clean feeling laugher.gif

I just did the latest firmware update and it was not destructive. The one on my other Adata ssd was not either.

I use Parted Magic. Download it burn it to cd, boot from the cd select hdd erase, then select the secure erase option follow the prompts and wait until it's finished.
