First WC build! 700D 360+240 rad, AMD Leo (1090T, 2x5870, 890fx)

Hey guys,

I have been drooling over many awesome WC builds on this forum for years now and have recently started my first WC build, so I thought I'd make a build log along the way!

Originally I was going to use my Cooler Master Sniper case and just cool my CPU, but extra funds enabled me to upgrade my case to the awesome Corsair 700D. There are countless amazing 700D/800D builds here on OCN and every one I saw just made me want this case more and more. Plus With more room in the 700D, I am now able to put my 5870s underwater whilst keeping all rads internal.

Most of the components for this build were purchased in june 2010, at the time I decided to go for AMDs Leo platform (see: http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-leo-2010-platform--enthusiasts-dream-setup-/7537.html)

Specs:
Case: Corsair Obsidian 700D
Motherboard: MSI 890FXA-GD70 (replacing)
CPU: AMD 1090T
Graphics card: 2x Ati 5870
RAM: 4gigs Corsair Dominator 2000mhz
Boot drive: 2x Corsair F120 SSDs.
Data drives: 2x 1TB HDDs
Power supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 800W
Sound card: Sound Blaster X-FI Fatal1ty Titanium Pro

Water Cooling specs:

Pump: Swiftech mcp655 (with speed control)

Tubing: Primochill UV blue. 1/2" ID 3/4" OD

Radiators: 1x 360GTX, 1x 240GTX

Waterblocks:1x Swiftech Apogee XT CPU waterblock (replacing)
2x EK FC5870 Acetal

Reservoir: frozenQ 150ml blue (upgrading to bigger one soon)

Fittings: Bitspower compression fittings.

Fans: 2xGT AP-15s, 3x high speed Yate Loons (replacing with 2150 RPM GTs)

Loop order:Res>pump>240rad>gpu2> gpu1>cpu>360rad>res

I am still waiting on some parts from the US and until I recieve them I am unable to build into the new case. They should arrive within the next 2 weeks. This will give me enough time to get some sleeving done and prepare the case.

Here's some photos of my progress so far, these are taken on my phone camera so they are not the best quality, plus I am hopeless at taking photos rolleyes.gif:

Some of the parts/boxes.

Case, along side my old t-virus. after modding below for the 240 rad, also have drilled and installed the mounting clips for the res

Some of the Bitspower compression fittings, SEXY!

1 5870 waterblock, purchased 2nd hand here on OCN:thumb:, 1 more on it's way here from the US! Currently trying to decide what I want to use to join them, leaning towards the EK bridge as it does look quite awesome:cool:

20kd6ba.jpg
Mounting clips for the T-Virus res, I only had to drill 1 hole for these, as I could use 1 of the E-ATX holes

Still to do:

Organise and order waterblock link for the 5870's waterblock, open for ideas & suggestions!

Sleeve cables, going for a black/blue theme.

Order the last remaining compression fittings.

I have a few idea's on what I want to do with my SSDs, will update with pics very soon!

Replace my motherboard, I want to get rid of the 4+1 MSI board and pick up one better suited to OCing my chip. Depending on how well Bulldozer performs, I'm thinking I'll either pick up an am3+ motherboard + bulldozer chip or get a 2600K with a suitable board and sell my CPU/motherboard, depending on how well bulldozer performs. Open for suggestions on this, or if you're interested in selling your 2600k drop me a PM tongue.gif

Upgrade my 150ml T-virus to a 200-250ml T-virus.

That's all for now! As this is my first WC build, I am open to advice, suggestions, feedback and criticism I am just awaiting 1 package from the US before I can put it all together, the package has my angled fittings + my other 5870 waterblock. I also have an 800D window on it's way from Corsair.

More updates coming in the following weeks!

After receiving most of my parts, I decided to put it all together on the weekend.

I started with the graphics cards, pulled off the stock heatsink and replaced it with the EK FC5870 blocks.

1 card done, 1 more to go

Both cards done

I'll be using the EK bridge and links for the cards, these things look awesome

I love the look of the EK bridge:thumb:

Graphics cards done, now onto the pump!

stock mcp655 pump, this pump is awesome, but kinda ugly. I'll be getting the bitspower top + modkit to help with the looks wink.gif

Pump with the bitspower top + kit, looks much better now! Just need to order some more black sleeving for the cable

I got the window aswell, lol. I don't mind the look, though I do wish it would only show the top section.

Looking good, man!

I've been thinking of replacing my Haf 932 with Obsidian this year..
I'll be buying another gpu and 240mm rad also, so Obsidian should be a great case by interior and looks.

Moarrrr pics! smile.gif
