Sata III Problems with a 128GB C300

Thread Starter
After having finally built my rig, I am happy with everything except the slight problem with my C300. It seems as if it is running at Sata II speeds rather than III. I have changed the mode to AHCI in both the BIOS and the registry. I have followed most, if not all of the guides in the stickies. I guess the only thing I haven't tried is updating the firmware, but I really don't want to have to reformat right when I have set everything up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you make sure it's on the intel SATA III and not the Intel SATA II or Marvell SATA III?

How would I be able to check that?

Sorry I wasn't aware your board didn't have it. The pic below should help.

Oh for physically connected, yes I tried both of the Sata 3 ports. I wouldn't make the silly mistake of putting it into the Sata 2 ports.

Not sure what else it could be other than mobo drivers(intel rapid included) or ssd firmwares (careful with c300 updates). Also, try benching it with ATTO to see if you get better results.

Even with ATTO, my read caps out before hitting 300. Write speed seems normal though.

Did you update the drivers for RST at the bottom?

I did that too.

You said you've done a lot already, but you have the same or similar issue I did. I was getting those same speeds before too.

Did you already go into the registry and edit the mahci key to set the value at 0 ?

But if you have done that, I'm not sure but something has to be missing.

EDIT: I just reread your first post. Nevermind, then I'm not sure.
