Question about 5970 ?

Thread Starter
hi everyone......
I'm planning to a 5970 sapphire from my friend, so i went ahead and borrowed the card for some testing !!

I realized that he has flashed to bios to an asus bios, and then he edited the bios and set the core frequency to 900 ! so its 900/100 on stock @ 1.162v!
I was all good until I tried to push it further and the core wouldn't even go above 930mhz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A 1ghz oc is a piece of cake on these card yet even with 1.25v voltage i can't get it to go past 930mhz core !!
the memory stops at 1273mhz which is decent but for core 930mhz is too low !!
now my question :
Could this be from the bios ? would I be able to overclock further if I flash back to original sapphire bios ??

Where did you get the idea 1ghz is a piece of cake from? Every card is different and not all will be able to reach those kind of overclocks. As for the question I personally wouldn't have thought that the bios will have a physical effect on how much the card can be oc'ed I mean it doesnt change the values of the voltage your putting into the card does it. But saying that why dont you try it and find out.
