Upgrading my work PC

Thread Starter
I typically go AMD but figured I'd try out the SB this time around. Anyway I'm looking at upgrading the following system and want to make sure I'm not missing anything since I'm unfamiliar with Intel.

Current PC specs:

Opteron 170 @ 2.1 (Zalman 9500 HSF)
2GB RAM
DFI Lan Party NF4
Radeon X1600
Adata 64GB SSD
WD 250GB SATA
Coolermaster 600W Silent Pro

I plan on reusing:

Thermaltake Matrix Case
Adata 64GB SSD
Coolermaster 600w Silent Pro

Now here is the fun stuff. I'm looking at this combo:

-Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52400
-MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
-G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH

I believe I read the video is processed by the processor? Is this correct? The mobo has video out but no onboard video processor.

I'm also thinking about picking up two 500GB HDD's to use in RAID. I read and write constantly to my storage drives and I'm hoping this would help. I believe RAID 0 is the correct RAID for me? Any issues with running two HDD's in RAID and having a SSD separately?

Thanks for all help!

If you are getting an SSD and your using the IGP, then you should get a Z68 board. It has SSD caching, overclocking, and you can use the intel graphics.

You could go for

To stay with msi

or

Stay with budget

Need to stay on budget and I already have a 64GB SSD for the OS. No intention on OC'ng this PC as it needs to last for years. Notice how long I've been running the Opty

Everything needs to be compatible with XP as well.

What exactly does the SSD caching do? I have an identical spare 64GB SSD as well.

I think I'm going to scratch the RAID and just get one larger HDD. I need to try to do everything for under $400.

Does the setup I originally posted have what I need for video?

Yes the video on the Sandy bridge processor is plenty for office apps. As for SSD caching , basically it will lower your boot times and app launch times.

Ok, those aren't a huge deal to me as I generally leave the PC running and the same apps open. The SSD already increased that for me and I'm happy with that. Sounds like I'm set.
