Windows 7 file issue?

Ok i know im probably way behind the curve on this, But trying to figure out if there is a fix for the file issue in windows 7. When inside a folder you cannot manually arrange files, they are arranged by deafault in aphabetical order, with other options to arrange by size ,date etc only. ( no manual drag/drop) This is a major issue for photos and stuff like that.

I read a windows forum from 2009 and there official responce was its dissabled( lame) So i read something ,about a way to open the files in Explorer then disabling auto arange. I was wondering if anyone knows another fix for this?

If you right click, and go to the sort by menu, at the bottom there is a button that says more. Click it and you should be able to choose more ways to sort your files. I don't think there is a way that you can randomly place the files like you used to be able to. You can specify individual folder options for sort and group which should achieve most of what I think you are trying to do. If you are trying to do this on your desktop just remove the auto arrange and snap to grid features. Hope this helps.

Yeah you are correct , you cannot randomly arrange the files anymore.( wich is my issue) There are a few options like you mentioned , to arange by size date etc. OK thanks for the input anyway!

Yea you can't just leave them floating around like you can on Macs.

But if you right click on either sort by or group by and click "more" it gives you a bagillion different ways to sort.

There might be some "addon" or something you can install to give you that capability though.

Actually like 4-5 options like size, date ,aphabetical, and a few others a little short of a gazillion But the problem is none of the options let you arrange your files manually. They are all auto arrrange options. I was just hoping there was a patch or a fix for this design flaw. I guess there going to make me buy another operating system ( what a joke) tisk tisk microsoft !!!!

You didn't follow the instructions. If you right click and then select sort by or group THEN CLICK "MORE" at the bottom it gives you close to a hundred options.

But yes, nothing on windows gives you the mac style of having your items be thrown about in whatever order or chaos you like.
