What single gpu card can play 1080p max out? - Page 9

all you need is a 560ti to play games maxed with 60fps or higher and to even ensure it just overclock it and ive had no problems

It's Nvidia, you know Kepler is gonna outperform the 5xx series lol Newer tech, better power. Now if we are talking power per dollar, definitely something no one knows. My guess, if its going to be the 6xx GTX series, that a 680 will cost any where from $600 to $750 for one of em.

If any one is arguing about 30 FPS being acceptable still, look at my current computer. Horrid. I can tell you 30 FPS is definitely playable, even like 26 FPS is playable. Starts to get really bad at 20 and lower.

And to make this relevant to the OP, for single card I recommend the GTX 580. Definitely a very powerful card. Now if you consider SLI, definitely get two 560 Ti's. Right about the same price as one 580 for two 560 Ti's (It's like $10 over, depends on which 560 Ti's you get) but two 560 Ti's will out perform the 580 fairly well.

Of course it will be better. 2020 will have better tech too I'm sure. But why waste all that gameplay you could be having in the coming months sitting around waiting. My advice buy a 560 ti it will get you 80-90% of the way there or 580 (1.5gb is perfectly fine @ 1920x1080) if you want to wait for keplar. Otherwise a game like metro 2033 isn't going to be maxed out by a single card that is out right now, not even a 580. Compromises will have to be made and your expectations lowered.

What's with all these people saying 560ti's and 5870s and below can max out games? What is your guy's definition of maxing out?

This guy is asking for maxed out at 1080p. Which means he probably doesn't want to watch as his mouse moves slowly across a screen that runs like a flip book with stuck pages.

Maxed out means you can turn everything up to full and still have a playable framerate. A playable framerate for me is 30 or higher, since 30 or lower usually means everything moves kind of slow.

The obvious choice here is the 580. Stop lying and pretending your low end gpu will max out everything at 1080p and still be smooth.

2 560 Ti's can out perform the 580 for just about the same price, but since the OP wants a single GPU card, and not two of them, 580 is, yes, the obvious choice

Just wanted to make sure you knew 2 560 Ti's can out perform the 580

Yea but the OP isn't asking for two, and the people I see making claims only have one.

I play BFBC2 on my 5870 1GB all settings on the highest in 1080P and I average 60-70FPS. In Crysis 2 I get 40-50 FPS and in Dirt 3 I get 70-80FPS. The only game that I CAN'T run above 30FPS fully maxed out is Metro 2033. The 5870 was a true beast of it's time.

I play everything maxed at 1080p on the GTX 470. Why would I need a GTX 580 ?

For me maxed means 30FPS minimum with at least 4xAA, 16xAF. Only Crysis and Metro 2033 are problematic but it's not like I play those on a daily basis.

This is true. One 560Ti most likely can't handle all games average 60 FPS. Most likely not Metro. Every GPU review I have ever read that has Metro in the games list they tested the cards on pulled the cards down to 10 and 11 frames. Even a 580. But, most cards can average really high on the game, I'm guessing it just gets extremely intense some where in the game.
