Well last night I had some issues to say the least, with my mobo and gpu. So without critting you guys with a wall of text, does this look burnt? The pcb was cleaned before i took the picture to make sure it wasn't a clump of dust or any other possible dirt.

Does it work?

Does it have a different texture than the chip itself?
if your on about the 8 pin IC then no it looks fine, just to the right of the highest pin on the right is a cap that also looks llike grease or something has made the dust cling ot the board.
Though all four of the legs on the left of both IC's look a little "dry"
whats up with C158? and the pads to the right of that look odd...
what exactly are your probs with the mobo/gpu?

Hi JE Nightmare. As far as I can see there doesn't appear to be any burns on the PCB. Where exactly where you looking when you thought it was burnt?

The IC in the center does appear to be a bit off. It looks like the outer plastic shell is partly melted, a residue on it, or it is etched? It is difficult impossible to say with any certainty whether of not that IC is actually damaged from a picture.

Doesn't work, and i have no feeling in my finger tips due to my job so i have no clue if it has a different texture.

C158 looks fine? i could be the angle of the picture that make it look funny but looking at it now in person it looks alright? then again i don't know for sure. Also i cleaned everything on this pcb before i took the picture to make sure that it's not any type of dirt or grease.

what happened last night was, bought another 5770 and a 460 ( 5770 for crossfire and 460 for folding ) went to turn it on and heard a pop. everything on the lower half of the board and the cpu fan header stopped working. i re-tested the 5770 and the 460, they both still work. haven't had a chance to retest the mobo yet, need more tim to switch the cpu back into it.

Sorry my mistake,i got facewash in my eye so it was a little blurry!
so yea the transistor (C158 marker i mentioned) looks fine, but the joints around the left hand legs of both IC's look a bit dry, holding a soldering iron on each leg would reflow them which would make them appear more solid visually but i doubt thats the cause of a mobo going pop,you didnt plug an extra fan in to supply more airflow at the time of installing the cards did you?
Seems the image of the card is a red herring and it may be the psu or pci-e slot at fault?

You got white finger?
