when using thermal compound on the CPU and CPU cooler please use the pea method, its proven to create the least air bubbles. Just watch the first two they are the most common. Eventhough the pea method does not cover the entire CPU does not mean its to little. Once the heatsink is on and tightened it will spread further and the heat is usually focused in the center.

Most importantly, when reattaching your CPU, tighthen that backplate very well! I dropped 5 degrees just by tightening it.. use a 9" screwdriver (from tip to top of handle) atleast! Tighten them very well, it creates a better contact with the thermal paste and also makes the thermal paste thinner and spread more.

Interesting, what is the benefit from this compared to just using a card to spread it out? Now I just have to find one of those glass plates... Although I could probably still do this method with a card.

No, all you have to do is put the blob in the middle. The glass represents the CPU cooler, they just use that in the video to show any air bubbles.

The advantage of this method is reducing the amount of air bubbles, which limit the rate if thermal transfer.

So you advice me not to spread it out at all with a card? just put a bit of thermal paste in the middle and put the heatsink on it? Cool. Sounds easier too.

Got my hyper 212 and extra 120mm fan. Will probably place the extra fan on the sidepanel. Going to clean my case and every component and try some better cable management. I am clumsy with cables so I will probably spend my whole evening on this.

Will do. Why are there 2 fans shown on the box but only one included? This is bad the instructions also say I have one fan. Don't I need 2 for my 212? I am on my phone by the way

You do not need 2. The second is optional. Make sure the back of the fan (with the supports for the motor in the centre) is against the heatsink when you put it on.

Thanks I have another 120mm fan (cm sickleflow 120) though. Should I mounth it on the other side of my heatsink or on the sidepanel? What is better

My screwdriver is too short it still works but can't get it as tight as I want to.

You need to get the heatsink fairly tight.

And i would put the sickleflow on the sidepanel, as the differences in static pressure can much up the cooling if you put it on the 212.
