[XFX] XFX Triple Display Monitor Stand - Page 4

Dude 1: Hey, look at my new U2311 triple monitor setup. $1000, hell yeah!
Dude 2: What? 3x U2311 don't cost $1000...
Dude 1: Guess!
Dude 2: You also bought a new VGA?
Dude 1: No.
Dude 2: So what is it then?
Dude 1: Zzzzz, it's the stand!
Dude 2: Haa, ok...

wave2.gif

The stand is too expensive and doesn't have USB 3. You can't tell me that a stand costs more than a high-end Lian Li / Case Labs case. headscratch.gif

These stands are a lot more slick since you can move, swing, pivot and rotate the monitors in multiple positions. That is what makes it more expensive.

It's actually made by another company...

I have virtually the same stand for work only it looks more "raw".

Cool deal though.
I'm not suite sure why all the ragging on the product besides the usual ignorant comments. Sure, you could make one out of wood that attaches to the wall...unless your desk isn't by a wall. Sure, you can get 3 single mounts that clip on the desk...unless your desk doesn't have a lip. Sure, you can make your own that will do the job but look like crap at work. And if you make one that looks great, by that time it is worth just getting one that is premade. My time is worth that much to me.

Remember that most people who need a triple monitor mount are not 14-24 and have real jobs, real lives, and can't spend the time to throw one together. This one also includes a USB hub and adjusts for many different configurations and monitors. A professional who would probably buy this also probably has decent monitors (read: not your cheap TN newegg special ZOMG 24" for $100!!1!!) and actually values their desk space to do actual work.

Please think about other uses and other people's situations before blasting a product that you personally wouldn't use. If you can't see why a company would put out a product, sit back and think about it for a bit before jumping in and blasting it.

while I dont agree or disagree with everything that you said. I agree that for those who need and would rather spend the money than take the time they should be available. I disagree that the time you have made something nice you might have well purchased one.

But more than anything, I am concerned about your level of anger on the subject let me be the first to offer up a

I'm not angry but it is rather silly to see so many people posting only to bash or 'one-up' the product.

What I meant by 'might as well purchase one' is that, for many people, it isn't worth spending the time to build one (or build a PC, for that matter). If I make $50/hr at my job, have a family, and own a house there are many other things I would rather do than spend time building a monitor stand. A few hours with my 1 yr old daughter is worth the money to me. Obviously that doesn't speak for everyone but those who complain about the price or the advantages of doing it yourself need to understand that other people have different priorities.

Wouldn't a professional buy a professional branded stand instead of an XFX one?

Such as? There are very few 24" capable triple monitor stands.
