A good keyboard for around $100?

Hey guys, summer is coming soon, and I'm looking for a new keyboard for my build. After looking through these forums, I feel like I should go with a mechanical keyboard, even if I have to stretch my budget a little bit. So I decided I can put around $100 towards a good quality keyboard.

Now I've looked at a few. I looked at the Black Widow, the OCN Ducky, and the Das Silent(after student discount).

Thing with the Black Widow though is I'm not sure I really like the click sound of the blue switches. And I'll be having this in my dorm room, so I don't think people will appreciate the sound either.
So that leaves brown switches for me, and I have the Ducky or Das Silent to look at. I'm not sure what to get though? What are the differences?

If I wasn't getting a mech keyboard, I would get a MS Sidewinder X4.

I endorse the Das Silent if you can get the student discount, but the OCN Ducky would also be great whenever it comes back in stock at Tankguys.com. A bit more expensive though. I heard the new one has full NKRO over USB, nifty perk, if not very useful.

Any mechanical keyboard would be super loud in a dorm room, so make sure your roommate is fine with it too. I have the Das Silent (Brown switches) but they're still very loud compared to a laptop or a rubber dome keyboard.

Ah really? Hmm......I just wish I had a way to actually try a mechanical keyboard.

Well, time to go run this with my roommate.

That's only if you bottom out... teach yourself to type properly on a Cherry MX keyboard and it can be very very quiet.

Cherry mx red and cherry MX brown keys should be nearly silent...
don't see how you can think that pushing a piece of plastic 2mm into air is louder than pushing a piece of plastic 4mm into plastic...
heck get some http://elitekeyboards.com/products.p...s&pid=sl120_cs and even if you do bottom out its still virtually silent.

So would the Ducky for $110 be better or the Das Silent for around $108(estimating high with a 20% student discount, as it seems to vary from time to time, think the discount is more like around 24%.) Not really sure how they compare to be quite honest.

Thanks guys for the help though, I appreciate it.

So now I got three choices to choose from. Yay

How are the Leopolds compared to the Ducky or Das?
