Silver Arrow too big - alternate suggestions?

I'm putting together a new build and thought I had everything set, researched, etc. Turns out with the Asus P8P67 Deluxe and Thermalright Silver Arrow, you can't fit the X-Fi Titanium HD because the video cards cover one slot and the Silver Arrow blocks the second slot.

So... I'm hoping to OC a core i7 2600K to at least 4.5Ghz. Curious what others would suggest for cooling, in roughly the $90 price range, that has a smaller footprint than the Silver Arrow. Probably doesn't need to be much smaller, maybe a quarter inch and I'd have the clearance I need. I'd like to keep it as quiet as possible, but of course w/o sacrificing the ability to get the overclock working.

Interesting....is it covering the first PCI-E slot no matter which way you turn the cooler? I would have thought you can turn it such that it is encroaching on the RAM slots and not the PCI-E slots. And cooler should still clear the RAM unless you got gothic size heat sinks on the RAM.

Chewy, how do you find the noise levels on that cooler? Do you have the RPMs capped or running full?

Awaz, I could turn it so it was blowing upward... I hadn't really considered that. But what effect would that have on the airflow design in the 600T? It does have a 200mm fan at the top blowing out, but the rest of the fans are blowing front to back.

BlackandDecker, have you heard any info on release dates or pricing for the H80 / H100? The dual fan/large radiator does look promising...

I have the cooler fans plugged straight into the motherboard, Even at 100% it is barely noticeable

I strongly suggest the Thermalright Archon. I've been using it to OC my 950 to almost 4.5ghz without temps ever even hitting 75. The sandy bridge CPUs will got far higher with much lower temps.

I checked the compatibilty for your mobo, and almost all ASUS mobos are fully compatible. Most of the H67 series ones have some kind of a problem, the P67 series is fine.

Motherboard compatibility list:
http://www.thermalright.com/layout/s...aswLKgWnLz%2Fu

Best part for me about this cooler is its noise. It's inaudible even at it's max fan speed, and even with two fans, you can just barely hear it. I cannot even start to emphasize how quiet this thing is. Even in my HAF 932, the front intake fan is louder than the single fan on the archon, and take it from me, those intakes are extensor quiet.
Because of it's size, it leaves the ram slots completely open, which other coolers happen to cover up. So even the tallest of ram can be used to fill up all the slots in the motherboard.

Check the link in my sig for more details though... (dimensions, case compatibility, etc)

Thanks guys. I'm curious, it looks like the Archon is basically just half of the Silver Arrow?

In terms of physical size, yes almost. However, when it comes to cooling, it is only a degree or two behind both the SA or the NH-D14 (with their dual fans vs the Archon's single fan) Dual fans on the Archon matches it with the other two and sometimes even puts it on top. It has the same surface area as either and 60% more than the Venomous X.

I definitely wish I would have seen the Archon before I picked up the Silver Arrow... It would have saved me a ton of headache. Thanks for the info.

I decided to try rotating the whole thing so the fans are pointing up before dealing with return shipping, restocking fees, etc. It does fit - barely. We're talking milimeters to spare between the top fan clips and the case fan.

As you can see from the pics (sorry they're not very good quality), the X-Fi Titanium sitting above the top video card now also fits where it did not have room with the SA pushing air out the back.

But I have two concerns with this setup and would like some advice:

This configuration forces me to put the SA fans in the middle and on top instead of on the bottom and in the middle. This probably isn't ideal, is it? Will I be losing any significant cooling?
Also, will it cause any problems by being so close to the top of the case? Would it help if I went to two smaller fans instead of the 240mm so they align better with the SA fans?
