Naw, the PCB is just there to hold them in place. If you take a look at my pictures, you can see that the cables are actually connectors and don't lead into the USB ports themselves.

I saw your discussion about upgrading the Shinobi to USB 3.0 by changing something at the PCB.

We at BitFenix will be offering an upgrade kit very soon - will be arriving in the market within November. It will be called "Shinobi USB Panel Upgrade Kit" and will come with 2 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 ports.
Does that mean we can be the first to try them? tongue.gif

Its truely is, I've got all Fan slots filled and running and the only thing I can hear is my RAM fan.

Mine is quiet too. Only time I hear it is when the gpu fan kicks into high gear.

I would be in favor with us getting samples to try in our rigs. Who's with me? biggrin.gif

Wow! I can't believe that! Is it really true? At first I wanted to write on bitfenix forum about that mod. I didn't even think to ask bitfenix themselves about officially USB 3.0 support. And now you came and said it. I'm very impressed. Good job!

It may be a great idea to provide some samples to our fellow fans in overclock.net... I will think about something and let you guys know ASAP! smile.gif

The reason why we do offer an upgrade kit and not just a new SKU of the chassis with USB 3.0 like other brands is because we also want to think about the people that have already bought our Shinobi and dont want that they have any disadvantage!

What is you guys prefered split for the ports?

2 USB 2.0 / 2 USB 3.0
3 USB 2.0 / 1 USB 3.0
4 USB 3.0
4 usb 3.0 is the obvious choice for me. You can still use usb 2.0 drives in a 3.0 port. Or maybe a 3 usb 3.0 and a sd card reader set up would be ideal.
@DrC: The plastic part is set on the Front Panel so it is not possible to add anything else than USB ports... Please also consider that a USB 3.0 port is much more expensive than a USB 2.0 port so the cost of the upgrade it would be higher...

We are planning right now to make a 2/2 split - How do you guys think about it?

It's fine. I don't think people have more than 2 USB 3.0 devices that they plug in/off everyday...

Thats that we were thinking too and this way we can keep a better pricing as like previously mentioned USB 3.0 is much more expensive as its a new technoglogy!
What kind of price difference are we talking? For the consumer I mean.
2/2 = 12,99 USD
3 x USB 3.0 = 25,00 USD

basically almost double the price... There is a reason why other brands only add 1 more USB 3.0 ports to their new USB 3.0 editions... We want to give you guys 2...
