I heard that the out of the box cooling performance of the Shinobi is pretty bad, so I would have to throw in some additional fans; for the price of the case this is hardly an issue. What I was wondering though is if it's gonna be able to get similar cooling performance while being really quiet? My current setup is barely audible during normal use, and I don't want anything that's gonna be a lot louder.
Basically it comes down to this; is the Shinobi capable of being a silent case? Also, I've seen a couple of sound dampening mat sets on the market, would putting those in the Shinobi help a lot or would it be a waste of money?
Thanks in advance. smile.gif
Where did you hear out of the box cooling is bad? If you're talking about 2 degrees, it won't kill your hardware.
The Shinobi is a silent case. Period. The fans we use are the Spectre fans which aren't run-off-the-mill.

The stock fan config is 2x 1000rpm spectres, which sure isn't bad for the price point. The spectres are good fans (I've got 2 on my rig), but they aren't "performance" fans, as you can probably tell from the rpm. The shinobi is capable of being a very silent case and yes, dampening mat would help. However building a silent rig should start from silent hardware.

My current HAF932 has just enough room and that was one of the few that didnt need modding.
ps. stupid question: why is the gpu tube not on the left side of the cpublock?

You can mount a 360 rad up top with a push/pull config...
check out my build log http://www.overclock.net/t/1249077/project-attero
also the left side is the in of the block and I have had a chance to flip the block around.

From looking at reviews, am I right to think that Shinobi Non-Window comes with 1 fan, but Shinobi Window comes with 2 instead?

I was wondering, the Shinobi doesn't support E-ATX motherboards, but does it support motherboards that are slightly larger than the ATX standard?

It should be able to handle 305mm by 244mm (which is the specification for an ATX motherboard), but would boards that are slightly wider work as well?

For example, I currently have an EVGA Z68 FTW motherboard that is 304.8mm by 263.5mm and I might be looking at an upgrade to an Asus Maximus V Formula which is 305mm by 257mm... Would these fit inside the regular Shinobi without any problems?

From the looks like it, you can. However you will block some parts of the cable management holes.

However if they don't fit, do not blame me. Build at your own risk. I do not have a e-atx board to test this. I'm only basing the assumption on the available space on the case, for those specific boards.

Shinobi XL White available through NCIX now. The wait for NCIX US is killing me. Any pics of the case to hold me over Bourne?

*edit* Contacted NCIX support, looks like they'll be available for purchase in about a week. F yeah.

Hi everyone,

Anyone here has a bitfenix colossus, I am thinking of buying one, for my second pc, but I've read some bad cooling test results, on the web, so I'm now a bit concerned... Any advice?

Sneak peak I guess:
600

Colossus: If you're talking 4-5 degrees is "bad"... ok. It won't kill your hardware.
