We are all DIY'ers here by the looks of things so I am going to fun way by spraying myself. biggrin.gif I saw a few pictures here and have ideas for other colours now as well as any possible themes. thumb.gif Unfortunately it seems that we don't have the Shinobi coloured mesh/badge kits here in Australia but lucky we do have the drive covers which is what I used on my Blu ray. smile.gif

Also if you want a bit of added protection on your paint, put a layer or 2 of clear coat over it when your done. I did mine recently and they ended up perfect, no need to buy the strips if you're willing to paint them. As for the case badge, it just pops out with 2 clips from the back and then you're free to paint it. Here's how mine ended up:

Thanks for the video, it helped me out! Ah yes, I was taught how to spray paint with very light coats by my father a few years back. I must say your front panel meshes have turned out awesome. Good job! thumb.gif

As for your fans, I think you should go for spraying them the yellow goes well with black and you'd be the first person I know to have customised a Bitfenix fan. smile.gif

I used normal Australian Export Spray Paint, the finish comes out smooth and they dont take long to dry if you leave them in the sun.
The meshes on the top are a bit of a pain to take off if you dont remove the front panel connectors but still good. thumb.gif

They start at around $3.50+ per can, if you're under 18 they don't ask for ID at $2 shops and probably at markets. applaud.gif

edit: i couldnt figure out how to take the badge off, didnt want to brake the clips either. It's doable but.
and the technique i used when spraying was just even coats across the whole mesh, do a little bit inside the mesh too.

I know that paint, I bought some silver spray paint in those exact same cans from Supercheap Auto and used it to freshen the hubcaps on my old car it made them look brand new again. tongue.gif Fortunately I am in my early 20's and have ID so it is no problem with me getting the paint. thumb.gif

Well, it may be a couple of weeks before I get round to it, money is a little tight at the moment but when I do I will upload pictures of my work. smile.gif

Hey guys, thinking of getting shinobi mid tower to replace my old casing. Going to remove the hdd bay and replace it with another hdd cage, something like this, facing sideway

As I read that the hdd cage is part of shinobi structure, how bad will it effect the shinobi strength if I remove the hdd bay and replace with this? Love the shinobi look, but I'm kinda spoiled with sideway hdd biggrin.gif

I know what you meanwith the HDD cages pointing the way they do, but hopefully this helps you out.
Although the HDD bays do add some rigidity, the stability bar on top of the 5.25 bays is probably the most important in my personal experience.
And just for good measure here is a rough idea of what you would be getting! biggrin.gif

(This is with the corsair 550D cages, But I would say go with the ones that you selected)
I say Mod away thumb.gif

Agreed. The case will be fine without the vertical HDD cage. I also removed that first thing when I got it, and I am using 5.25" to 3.5" drive converters to hold my two HDDs in the 5.25 bays. Now I plan to get a PSU/floor cover made. Will most definitely post pics once I'm done. But I really like the pics above; putting a cage. I hope the next gen Shinobi won't disappoint!

I'm using the fantastic ICY DOCK MB082SP on my Shinobi XL :

Combined with those converters from Akasa (AK-HDA-01), they allow the installation of lot of 2.5 HDD on 5.25 bays while letting enough space for watercooling tubes through the side holes of the converters.

Awesome !
