Starcraft 2 problems...

post #1 of 6

During online games, I experince horrible lag, and I am not talking melee, I am talking tower defense games, and other UMS games.

Is this internet lag? Or is this computer lag? I get higher frame rates than I am actually seeing.. As in when it starts to lag, I see my computer is working harder, as I drop to 30 FPS, but in reality, I am seeing 1, maybe 2 frames.

I'm assuming this is internet lag, but this is my first time playing custom games since I have had a computer that should be able to handle these games.

Might be lag, have you tried rebooting your router and modem?

Edit: You can try some network monitoring tools from here;

http://www.paessler.com/

Or you could try running the windows resource monitor and see if that can show you anything.

That is strange, your hardware is more than capable of handling sc2, some kind of weird driver issue maybe? Has it happened to you in any other games? I would say internet lag, but if it were, you would just be dropped from the game usually.

Sounds like network lag, happens to me sometimes too, game just locks up. Make sure starcraft is the only thing running when you try to play the game, chrome kills system resources. My computer isnt that great, and i run the game on ultra at 1440x900 with average of 40-60fps WHILE streaming.

Could other people's lag effect my game? I tried playing directly connected into my modem and I have comcast business class modem which is 1gbps and I have a 1gbps nic, so I should be good...

and my resources are fine... I play games, with music, and webpages still opened no problem... during a game there okay too... I have dual screen one for game, one for monitoring my hardware and gpu overlcocking.

In SC2, yes it can. After a bit it will show you who is lagging so someone else you are playing with can cause this.
