question about overclocking gtx 580's

Alright, I have two of these in SLI, I really have yet to come accross a game I cant play in my resolution. So the real question is if were talking gaming and not E-Peen wise is there much point in overclocking these at the moment ?

And also, Say if I did overclock these cards to around 900Mhz core, how much performance increase would I be able to see, that is if I will benefit from overclocking these to begin with.

IMO theres no point in overclocking them right now. It'll just increase your power consumption and energy bill. Since I assume your maxing out everything at 1900x1200 at above 60fps then overclocking won't show any visual improvements. I would save the overclocking for a rainy day in a few months.

That was just my thoughts aswell. More power, more noise since increase fan speeds, more energy and if im not going to see much if any difference at all it's a waste.

No need to overclock if you are getting all the performance you need... If you do OC though, you could see between 35 - 40 fps improvement in your games.
