How do i get the "k" version? and what does crossfire mean? Sorry for my ignorance but i appreciate your help more than you know!!

I would either get the unlocked version of your CPU or go cheap on the cooler. Sandy Bridge processors run cool as it is, no need for an expensive cooler if you're not going to overclock.

Overclocking is definitely worth taking the time to learn, though. And these new motherboards support automatic overclocking a lot of the time to do it for you. And plus, overclocking is fun

If you are only going to do minor work like Photoshop or something similar and gaming than go for the 2500k. Also change the hard drive with a samsung spinpoint f3.
As for the build running all games on highest settings is not really true. The game metro 2033 is one of the toughest games to run, a gtx 580 which is way more powerful than the 6970 gives you about 30 to 45 fps on full settings, so if you do turn up all settings to high in that game you will probably receive unplayable fps.
As for the XFX 6970, dont go with that, I have heard XFX has replaced their cards with cheaper components inside so I would recommend a 6970 2GB from anyone else. Look at Sapphire they make good AMD cards.

Just spend a few more bucks and get the i7-2600"k" version if you want. Just look for it where ever you're buying your cpu. Even if you say you're not quite knowledgeable in overclocking now, you may be interested in the future.

Crossfire is just a way to have two or more gpus on your motherboard run simultaneously with each other for increased performance. Of course there are a few requirements to meet if you want to do this such as having a capable motherboard, two video cards that are compatible with crossfire/sli, having the correct power supply to handle the power consumption, etc.

Sigh, who does dell hire for their pc selection -_-.
Since you mentioned gaming and not video encoding, I would get the 2500k instead of the 2600k. I assume you are in the US, in which case newegg will most likely have the cheapest prices for you. If you aren't in the US or are using a different etailer please let us know.
Intel I7 2600k
Gigabyte P67 UD4 Motherboard <---I would either choose this, the Asrock Extreme 4, or the P8p67 Pro.

It does look ok , but i would improve it=

1. you dont need a p67 board if your getting a non k 2600!

2. get a 850 psu for some headroom

3. dont buy the wd blue for your main/boot drive get a black ( trust me)

4. i would get a ssd for your boot/os then you can get the blue for storage.

5. i would also get a GTX 580 fastest single gpu card !

6. for a few extra dollars you can get the best cpu for the money 2600k( imo)
this will also give you the chance to overclock down the road!

7. get the h70 , bigger rad and dual fans.
