Can't decide between GTX470 AMP! or GTX560 Ti OC - Page 4

Just because this is OCN doesn't mean everyone overclocks. Especially as this is for a friend, I would imagine overclocking would be conservative. You've jumped to blindly defend your card without considering the OPs needs.

Nonetheless, show me a comparison between a single, fully overclocked 560 Ti and a single, fully overclocked 470. Then we can talk performance.
Aftermarket cooling is any solution not reference, TFIII is aftermarket cooling.

OP never said it wouldn't be overclocked, clearly if it wouldn't be overclocked the 560 would win hands down and there would be no reason to create a thread about it.

Single 560ti:
http://www.overclock.net/benchmarkin...l#post13093249

http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3076223

Core i7 2600k @ 4635MHz
EVGA GTX 560Ti @ 965MHz
3dMark Vantage Score - 22309 3DMarks
CPU Score - 30972.15
GPU Score - 20407.08

Single 470:

You could clearly knock a few points off since I run water, I don't have anything with my i5-2500k anymore that is not water based. I would think around 850 core the 470 (airable) would still get over 21k.

Uh no. It's just called non-reference cooling.
When people talk about aftermarket cooling, they talk about Zalman/Scythe/Thermalright/Waterblocks etc etc.

Word play.

1) The 470 is faster, both in SLI and single.

2) You can tri sli 470s, you can't tri sli 560s.

3) 560s have less ram. Many games like DAII will use more than 1GB at 1080p, it can be assumed that future games will continue that trend.

4) 560s are cooler, and are quieter on reference cooling.

5) 560s use less power - However the OP already stated power wasn't an issue.

I would say 470s have more potential, both in scaling (tri), cooling improvements, and in vram.

Its a hard choice, however since both are priced the same. If you're looking for the best thermals and acoustics as is the 560 wins. If you're looking for performance, scaling, future upgrading, and future gaming the 470 wins.

BTW the 470 hes talking about comes with the VF3000 cooler, I don't believe there will be that big of a difference between the 560ti and the 470 as far as heat(gpu)/noise goes since he is purchasing a factory card with "after-market" cooling.

get the 470. The extra vram will help with playing on those high resolutions at 1080p. Also you can overclock to get the performance of the 570 if you are a good overclocker.

Likely had PPU enabled so he got a crazy high PhysX score.
