Need some advice building a SB gaming/work rig

Hi

I would be grateful if you could help me decide on some components for my rig, Budget is nothing more than **£1k**

The rig will be used for both work and gaming.

Software such as adobe cs4, programming sofware (might even do some video editing) i want it to handle multiple applications as well as some serious gaming.

Existing bits

Case

Thermaltake xaser

Zalman 850 watt psu

New components

Intel cpu

I7 2600K

Intel MB

I need some adivce here dont know wether i should go for a p67 or Z68

few in mind

z86 Gigabyte Z68X-UD7 Intel Z68

p67

Asus Maximus IV Extreme Intel P67

MSI Big Bang Marshal Intel P67

Gigabyte P67A-UD5-B3 Intel P67 Chipset

GPU

ATI asus 6950

Ram

Not sure on ram ether am guessing triple channel memoery would be the one to get, what brand would you recommend.

I hope you can help me decide on the best and suitable components for my rig

Thanks in advance

Qasim

The P67 is all you need, the Z68 just has some peace of mind if your GPU fails, and you'll have a back up.
The comparison of the 1155 motherboards can be found HERE, and since you are on a budget, unless you plan on more than dual sli/cf I would reccomend the Asus P8p67 Pro (for the UEFI), or the Gigabyte UD4 for looks. The asrock extreme 4 is good also, if you want to save some $$.

Tripple channel memory is only used on the 1366 platform, and no where else.
The only thing recommended for sandy bridge in specific is less than 1.5volts, so any gskill, corsair, kingston ram will do fine. You will probably only need 4 gigs for a gaming rig.

Here is some okay ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231277
or you could get slightly better ram in 10$ increments (50, 60, 70, 80)

Ditch the 2600k for a 2500k they are identical in games and will eat every game you can throw at it. put the money saved towards a better gpu as that is the weak point atm. perhaps a gtx 560ti or a 6970

P67 and Z68 overclock the same so for the money i would deffo get the p67 ond crank that cpu up to 4.5ghz+

ok cool

From what you lot are saying p67 looks like the best option, what would be the best board to get at the moment

I will also stick to 4gb dual ram i never knew they new 1155 boards didnt support triple channel memory, any recommendations on some good ram?

am still in two minds over the 2500 and 2600k , i dont wanna regret not getting the 2600k later in the year.

Thanks for all the input guys really appreciate it
