Hey guys, I'm kinda torn between the nVidia 460 and the Ati 5850. Which is better for gaming? Any additional tips on building a PC would be nice as well.

I've seen the benchmarks, in fact I've probably seen every benchmark out there. The 5850 beats it by a bit of a margin. I just want to know people's personal experiences with said cards. Thanks anyway, though. ever considered using LMGTFY.com? It's awesome for stupid questions.

I didn't mean to imply your question was stupid, just that it was one that could be very easily answered given a google search.

Anyways, since they're close just get whichever performs best in the games you play.

if you're into folding, go nvidia obviously. if that's a non-issue then go with the above recommendation.

Suggested this build a few days ago...perhaps you'll bite.

CPU+MOBO+RAM+CASE+HDD Combo (click me)
Rosewill TU-155 II 500 with 500W PSU (PSU unimpressive, highly suggest to replace at some ploint)
GIGABYTE GA-H61M-D2P-B3 LGA 1155 Intel H61
Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz
G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM

GPU: Sapphire Radeon 5830 1GB
DVD: ASUS DRW-24B1ST

That's under $500.
