How to controll fan speeds on ASUS Motherboard?

Thread Starter
Hi i have a p7p55de-pro mobo which i have 2 PWM fans on. I cant really control them in the fan xpert crap. I also cant get speedfan to work.

Does anyone know how to get and sort of fan controller software working on an Asus board?
In the BIOS you can set smart fan control to disabled and they will run at full power, apart from that there isn't much control over them unless you buy a fan controller.

I've got the same motherboard as you. Install asus AI Suite. It comes with a program called Fan Xpert. Use this to make custom fan profiles using graphs

EDIT: I mean this is the only way you can. Custom grapghs for the CPU only. Chassis don't get any control other than default profiles. Sorry.

I have this Fan Controller on the way. I'll let you know how it does. I too use Asus and simply just have them all going max, but with this hopefully I can tame my side intake (my loudest) and well it's pretty freaking cool regardless. xD

Well i do have an NZXT Sentry 2 but it can't do PWM and it never saves my damn settings when i turn off the PC.
Have you tried setting a MANUAL PWM profile? It's in the BIOS.
You can set the threshold temp and the duty cycle for the fan(s).
Also, make absolutely sure you have the fan(s) plugged into the CPU_FAN header and not the CHA_FAN header. The CHA_FAN header doesn't have PWM control even though it's 4-pin.
On my Asus boards, X58 Sabertooth and Rampage Gene III, all chassis fan headers, both 4-pin and 3-pin ones, only do voltage control. Only cpu fan headers work with PWM control. Sys_fan2 header on my Gigabyte P45 board also works only with voltage control even though it's a 4-pin header.

Try this: uninstall the AI suite and don't worry about it. Dig around in our confusing BIOS to make sure the automatic fan control is enabled, and make sure your PWM fans are plugged into the CPU fan header.

If that doesn't work, contact As.s. They have great tech support for our mb. The tech person can either talk you through getting the function working, or tell you your board is bad and needs replacing.

Well the fan controller on the board is working as well as it should i suppose. the crappy little 3 settings work somewhat. CPU fan PWM actually works fine. I gave up though with onboard fan control, i can get much better control with the sentry 2.

I found the custom CPU fan setting in the bios. i mess around with that and see what i can do. As far as the 2 case fan headers they really are useless and have no control.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you.

Do remember: it's an As.s board. Marketing comes first.
