Hello, just another newbie

Thread Starter
well, at this point I consider myself to be a newbie with a big gun.

for the past 10 years I was using a Sony Vaio to play my PC games, and it was good for the bare minimum when playing games like WoW.

Luckly I came by a healthy chunk of money and the need to upgrade my computer. So I decided to go big this time and build my own.

After researching over the web as to what is the best and reasonably priced components for a good start in the overclocking scene I went with the items you see below (if I edited my sig correctly)

And now I've come to these fourms for an education on how to safely tweak my performance for effiecent gaming (and digital media); since most of my previous research that inspired me to get the parts I bought came from this place, I thought it was it was suiting to make this my home.

So last week i ordered all the parts online from Newegg.ca. great online store. and luckly saw all my purchased items arrive without any complications.

Over the weekend I successfully put all the pieces together, and it works great. I would say it works perfectly, but all I'm using at the moment is the Nvida's "Alien vs. Triangle"and seeing how beautifully the laser works at melting his skin off. Right now, I have no high end games to fully test the strength of this 'little monster' I've created.

And as of right now, I have no internet connection, since I need wireless, and I had to order D-link's DWA 556 becuase no store in town has an adapter with PCI-E, and the USBs are too crappy to use. hopefully I'll get it by Wednesday

So if anyone has any suggestions for this newbie, (like BIOS settings and essential programs for this kind of rig) I'd be very thankful.

Well, noobs are just learning how to kick our butt!

Any questions refer to the FAQ/PM a mod/user, or just make a thread!

Cheers.

My Asus Rampage II has auto overcloak, just change profile to i7-940 or i7-960, goes from 2.6 to 2.9 and 3.2, it's, in my opinion the safest way as it's made by the manufactorer.

As for programs, a good stress test to check for stability like prime95
