Best fans for intake/exhaust 140mm and 120mm/38mm

Hey guys,

Looking for a few fans for intake on my case. The problem is that there's only 3 fans across the top and then one at the back. The tops are 120mm, the back is 140mm.

Right now I have all three across the top as intake because two are silent and only one pushes a lot of air. The rear is the stock fan, exhaust. Would it be better to have the three as exhaust and the intake blow at the heatsink? It works ok as is but nothing special.

Anyways, how are these for 120mm/38mm thickness?

Also looking for a strong 140mm since it's the only exhaust I have. What about this?

I can't seem to find any 140mm/38mm thickness fans. Do they even exist?

Thanks guys!

If you're concerned with noise, the Scythe Kaze 3K's are anything but quiet. I would not get those even if they were free.

As for fan positioning, what you described is very positive airflow, so if it works and you can't add intakes to the front, then go with it. I assume your PSU fan is exhaust or is it not part of the equation here?

As for 120's, NB PL2 or PLPS are quiet + work well, but are not 120 x 38. If you're set on 38mm, then look at the San Ace 9G1212H1011 though not quiet be any means, you might want to include some fan control in the mix. You could even use three Scythe GT-AP14's for intake, that might be a better option for airflow/noise.

For 140 exhaust, the NB PK2 or PK3.

btw, they do make 140x38 but extremely expensive and IMHO not worth it.

Just so you know, the first fan link in your 140mm fan section isn't actually 140mm. It's a 140mm fan designed for a 120mm fan slot. I learned that the hard way. Just have it laying around now in my room hahaha.

Well the one 38mm 120mm I have now isn't that quiet either. It makes a weird whining sound which is quite annoying though.

Thanks for the help, I'll look into your suggestions.

Hmm, those two sites aren't really canada friendly. I need to get it from newegg.ca or another canadian site (ncix, directcanada.com, canadacomputers etc)

Sorry 'bout that.... I always suggest fans that I have/would use, I'm also a no-noise addict.

I looked briefly through NE-CA but didn't see much of anything worth suggesting. Your best bet is try to locate GT AP-14's; possible Canada Computer since they do carry the AP-15, or you might check FrozenCPU, they're just across the river in NY and they ship to CA via USPS.
