I like you. Your high level of common sense is overwhelming.
DICE could have released BF3 a year after BF2 if they had really wanted to milk the franchise, just like Valve released L4D2 just a year after L4D1. BF fans would have surely bought it, just as COD fans buy every COD every year. If you're guaranteed successful sales for easy profit, why wouldn't you do it?
While all businesses are in business for the business, (By that I mean money, funny statement there) Dice has a desire to deliver mind-blowing content unlike Activision, whose own CEO has made it clear that their ultimate goal is to rape their customers' pockets. Yearly COD releases are an easy indication of this. I'm not saying Dice is selfless and only wants to deliver what their customers really want, which is a quality BF game, but they know how to keep their customers happy all while reaping huge profits. THAT is the business model I approve of. Keep reeling in all of your original customers from the first Battlefield, while still adding new customers by adding things such as a campaign mode. Sure, the last few CODs have been selling like food, but I'm sure many classic COD1/2 veterans have let go of the franchise, and soon enough COD3/4 veterans will let go of the future releases.
While I sincerely doubt it, I hope MW3 performs below MW2. Maybe then Activision will see that they can't just keep refreshing COD every year the way they have been doing. Before I get flamed: I do have MW1, MW2, World at War, and Black Ops. I was suckered into getting MW2 and Black Ops all thanks to $30 deals, and won't make that mistake with MW3. I'm fine if others are crazy for COD and don't like BF at all. It works out better for me in my own way, which I won't mention because people around here have really been sensitive lately. I bash on COD because I don't like it. If you don't like that I don't like it, then you're doing exactly what you're complaining about
: people being fanboys and making a big deal about others not liking what you like.Edited by Stealth Pyros - 5/24/11 at 11:07am
