1st core keeps failing in prime95 - Page 4

Failing Prime95 on a smaller than 1024k FFT Length usually means it wants more Vcore.

SO basically i need to turn down my oc to 4.4ghz because adding more vcore will only raise temps and as of right now these temps wont cut it during the summer

I have a few more idea's, but it is very advanced and takes a lot more testing for stability.

You should get your CPU clock 100% stable at a much lower clock, like 4.2GHz. After you do that, start tweaking your other voltages in your bios. My voltage settings were able to be lowered quite a bit and because of it, my temps improved by 10C. I also used a FSB of 350 instead of 200. My voltage requirement for 4.4GHz was 1.5125v for 48 hour Prime95 Blend testing and 1.525v for Folding SMP for days! Now I am stable at 1.4625v for Prime95 and 1.475v for Folding!

This is a complicated task though. You will reduce CPU/NB, VDDA/PLL...etc. Then you won't know which is unstable as you clock your cpu higher.

EDIT: Now I insert foot in mouth because I did not check to see which CPU you had in the above reply. When I respond to all these questions, I kinda miss the important things like that upon occassion. You can still do all of this, but it is even more complicating for socket 1155 IMO. I sold my SB setup. I can still navigate the Manual though and try to help you. I had the same board.

Thanks for the willingness to help but i just got my 2500k stable at 4.4ghz on an 18 hour prime95 test .. Voltage is 1.295v and temps are 70 75 74 72 however today is the hottest day so far in a LONG time so that accounts to semi high temps! Now im going to just try and tweak it with things like adjusting the pll to reduce temps a little..

Nice bro icefire btw i also did a little test trying to lower PLL from1.8v to 1.75v for now seems like stable but dont test it with prime yet only daily gaming hehe

Right now im at one notch under 1.75v for cpu ppl. I heard some people recommending going down to 1.71 on some oc's so i think we have some more headroom until it starts becoming unstable because of the pll!

Just thought id let you know some of my knowledge to help you out!
