I've switched from a Motorola SB120 & WRT54GS to a MOTOROLA SB6120 & Linksys E4200.

I haven't noticed anything better except my internal network and better wireless as I'm using N vs G for wireless devices.

The new modem takes advantage of this new DOCSIS comcast provides and frankly like I stated, I haven't noticed a difference between the old modem and new modem for downloading, browsing or PC gaming. :/.

My real-life upload and download more than doubled when Comcast upgraded my modem to a DOCSIS 2.0. (at no extra charge) I can only dream of what speeds 3.0 will bring.

Yea, Comcast has had 3 for a while now. Why wouldn't you grab a 3.0 modem??? You're crazy. You don't pay any extra for using 3.0. You can either buy a 3.0 modem for ~$80-$100 or lease one from Comcast for $5 a month. I have this one and my download speeds are constantly 3.2mb/s so long as I'm downloading from a good server. Pretty sure that's the 30mbps Ultra plan. I've only been paying $32 a month for the past year including the most basic cable TV plan, and when I move in August I'll be able to get the same discount deal since I'll be at a new address lol. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Motorola...6120&cp=1&lp=1

Edit: Little cheaper on Amazon

I've had Comcast Extreme 50, which is 50/10, since December and loving it. Speedtest.net shows I'm pulling 60/12...I recently saw that they have 105/10 in my area and I called in to upgrade but they wanted like a $250 installation charge, so I said no thank you...but for whatever reason, I've been wanting to cut back to just the Blast package which is 20/4...not sure to do it or not since I upload a LOT of stuff which are 500+ mb and the 12 mbps upload is great! Just wish it was 20/10, not 20/4. BTW, there is still the 250gb Bandwidth cap on the Extreme 50

Wow. Would you mind running a test and sharing the results with me? I would love to upgrade to the Extreme tier but haven't run into anyone that has it. The 250GB cap for higher tiers is quite ridiculous but I've never really gone over that limit; plus, I think down here Comcast isn't very strict about it. They don't want to lose customers to the competition, which is exactly what would happen if they killed off my account.

Go here and if it doesn't take you straight to the test click on "Test Speed & Capacity" under "Advanced Speed Test." SpeedTest.net isn't very accurate because the file used to test the speed is tiny and that biases in Comcast's favor due to Burst. When you click to start the test it'll ask you to enter an SID, just use your OCN name to make it easy. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I've read about Speedtest.net and Comcast about the "Burst" speed and everything so I figured I wouldn't be anywhere close to the 60/12 that it states. I download quite a few movies and have yet to hit the 250GB cap but have came close, closest being around 220GB. I will gladly take the speedtest for you but will do in about roughly 7 hrs since I'm at work right now...and also if I remember

***Edit***
Thinking about it now, when I download movies(which are at least 4GB), I constantly download at 7Mb/s so wouldn't that be roughly 56mbps? So maybe I am getting those speeds?

Wow. Yes, that's 56mbps which is more than the advertised 50mbps. Is that your constant rate? I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Do want! I'm moving to a new place in August so maybe I'll go for it. I can likely get a 12 month promotional deal. I'm pretty good at haggling with Comcast reps to get a better deal or lower my current rate. You pay about $100? Yikes... that's a bit out of what I want to be paying. We'll see.

Yup, constantly...well it sometimes dips a little bit but to about 6.4Mb/s....I pay $105 (yeah it's quite a lot and that's why I'm considering downgrading and would have done it already if not for the upload speed) for it but the new Extreme 105, which is the 105 down/10 up that's available, well they are doing a promotion for it, 1 year contract @ $105 a month as well.
