Looking for best budget cooler I can find - Page 2

The v6 GT fans on my friends' build just screams, and it blocked a slot on his ram slot.. Of all the sinks I looked from mugen 2, megahalems, v6 gt, h50, etc.. I settled at a 212+ cooler, no weight or size problems.
If you ain't going for a world record on your pc or be OC'ing a lot, I'd suggest a 212+ like everyone always do.

Easily the 212+ by Coolermaster, and the leftover coin you have; use it towards a second fan for some mean push-pull action

thermaltake frio is $48 on newegg. It comes with 2 fans and it's better than 212+!

edit: NEWCUSTOMER10 is the code to get $10 off, sorry I forgot

I would opt for the Xigmatek Gaia.

So I guess I can't go wrong with the 212+ based on the number of recommendations. I am still undecided. I have to go to bed now, but tomorrow I'm going to do some research into all the other heatsinks mentioned. I'll update tomorrow afternoon. (afternoon for me, so about 18-20 hours from now)

A stock Thermaltake Frio can beat a stock 212+ thermally speaking.

Many coolers (like 212+) only come with a single fan. That stock fan is usually not powerful enough to bring out the best potential of the cooler. However, Frio comes with 2 powerful fans and that is why it can beat a 212+ out of the box. But this thermal advantage comes at the relatively big expense of acoustics.

Of course, one can fit a 2nd fan to the 212+ to do 2-fan push-pull arrangement but then this brings down the CP ratio. But my personal preference is still the 212+ despite the lowered CP ratio.

However, this does not mean the Frio has no market. There are many people who do not want to play around with fans. They want a 'hassle free' (ie no need to do research for a 2nd fan) cooler that can perform out-of-the-box. And I suppose Frio is a good candidate for them.

This shows the 212+ has the highest CP ratio. And CM agrees so much that they quote this link in their webpage for 212+ !

It worked great on my 1155.
